Hi there! It's good you're changing your diet, hehe, well here is some info for you concerning rice:

Brown rice and white rice have similar amounts of calories[citation needed], carbohydrates[citation needed], fat and protein. The difference between the two lies in processing and nutritional content. If the outermost layer of a grain of rice (the husk) is removed, the result is brown rice. If the bran layer underneath are removed, the result is white rice. Several vitamins and dietary minerals are lost in this removal and the subsequent polishing process. A part of these missing nutrients, such as B1, B3, and iron are sometimes added back into the white rice making it "enriched", as food suppliers in the US are required to do by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). One mineral that is not added back into white rice is magnesium; one cup (195 grams) of cooked long grain brown rice contains 84 mg of magnesium while one cup of white rice contains 19 mg.
When the bran layer is removed to make white rice, the oil in the bran is also removed. A recent study has shown that rice bran oil may help lower LDL cholesterol.
Among other key sources of nutrition lost are fatty acids and fiber.
Besides this loss in nutrients, brown rice is also said to be not constipating, unlike white rice. Although this effect also depends on natural adaptation to the product by its users and whether or not the rice has been washed prior to cooking, brown rice generally allows better digestion.
Brown and white rice also differ in their chemical makeup. Compare White rice and Brown rice.

Calories of brown rice: Nutritional value per 100g, Energy 110kcal

Calories of white rice: 130kcal

20kcal difference between brown rice from white rice.

Brown rice is more of a whole grain and is more nutritious. It has fiber which is required to rinse toxins out of your body.

You should continue to eat brown rice, mypyramid.gov suggest everyone should stick to whole grains too.

I am also trying to lose 15 pounds lol! I am trying to do the same thing by running every 2nd day... and preparing myself for a 21k marathon because then I know I will be fit by then.. it's by next year in May though lol.

Good luck :)

White rice is what's left after the bran has been beaten or ground off. The bran is the part that produces the best fiber benefit for the body. For health, you should use the brown rice. The bran doesn't have any calories, so both white and brown rice are the same in calories, for the same amount of rice.

To lose the weight, lose the rice. A good principle for a diet is to eat for color, red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange --- and skip all whites (ice cream, bread, rice, potatoes, etc.) which tend to have a whole lot more carbohydrates.

Brown rice is more natural because it's not bleached and refined like white rice. The calories you consume when you eat brown rice are more nutritionally helpful. White rice is just empty calories.

I believe Brown rice has more fiber, whole grain brown rice probably has more fiber, which cuts fat in the body... Brown rice with salmon is great meal along with spinach or black beans and corn, try Brown rice with a vegtable stir-fry( use flaxseed oil or walnut oil for health benefits). White rice is cool but in smaller portions is probably best if your wanting to lose weight!! Use brown rice with vegatable stir fry, a lean cut of meat, like skinless lemon herb chicken along with a small salad with diet iced tea, that's sound like a good meal, or maybe brown rice with salmon...remember one important key to losing weight is eating more frequent smaller meals, this act boosts your metabolism levels and burns more calories, slim people stay slim by eating more, not less.
