She seems to be a little late it everything compared to my other two children. My son walked at 14mos, but he's a boy and he was really big at that age. I know sometimes boys walk a little later than girls. My 2nd child (girl) walked right before her first birthday. Now, my 14 month old has taken steps but she just wants to crawl. In all honesty, I don't mind because I know she'll walk when she's ready. I just want to know if anybody else has had late walkers with no problems?

Thanks

Have you asked your child's pediatrician if your child is physically on target with other growth factors? If yes, then you shouldn't worry. Each child is an individual. It may not be a such a good idea to compare the children. Perhaps your youngest can feel a bit of the stress that you're feeling. I'd say (if everything else is all right with her) just relax and enjoy her. Some children are late bloomers; others blossom early.

My son walked at 10 months, and my daughter is 12 months and she STILL will barely take a step or two! They walk when they're good and ready, and actually, I think 14 months is the average age for walking. Up to 18 months is even considered very normal.

My daughter didn't crawl until 10 months, and didn't walk until 15 months. On the other hand, her verbal skills are incredible! We joke that rather than walk to get what she wanted, she'd just tell us what it was so we'd get it for her. She's now three and absolutely fine. Her brother is almost eight months old and doesn't crawl yet, but after my experience with her I'm not concerned about it.

My son ( now 4 ) didn't walk until he was 18 months, and he is now, in his own words " As fast as Dash!" ( The son from the Incredibles whose superpower is the ability to run so fast he can run across water) and boy is it true. I wouldn't worry. In fact sometimes I miss the day when my lil late walker crawled. Sigh. At least it gives me plenty of exercise right?
Cheers!

My son was "late" with all of his physical milestones, but still achieved them within the range (I think for walking the range ends at 18 months). My son did not walk until just after 15 months, and he is 100% healthy and normal. Running came a quick 2 weeks after he started to walk. I even had people telling me there may be something wrong with him, but I knew they were all wrong. Trust your instincts and don't worry!

my daughter didnt walk until she was about 15 months old...but when she did walk she maybe fell once or twice and was running a week later...

on the other hand, she could talk in full sentences and was very advanced with everything else...

do not worry if your baby is not walking, its actually better for them to crawl longer as crawling requires more use of the left and right parts of the brain then walking does...so let her crawl for as long as she wants...it will be better for her in the long run...

i have a friend who is a school teacher who works with kids who have learning difficulties and one of her techniques is to have the kids crawling around the classroom to get their left and right brains to work in unison...i know, sounds crazy but she has great results with most of her kids...

My baby girl is 15 months and just now started "walking". As long as your doctor states that your baby is healthy, enjoy.

My other girl was a late walker and she is now 4yrs old and running all over the place.

According to my mom, my brother and I didn't walk until we were somewhere around 15mon. We are both smart, healthy people (a doctor and a nurse) who are atheletic and without any mental development issues, like learning disorders or behavioral problems. I guess we just really like crawling! Have no fear, you will be running after her before you know it!

Many children start walking late and turn out okay. Best bet is to check with your pediatrician, who can check for other signs of progress.

I'm sure she's fine. I know someone whose daughter didn't walk until she was 15 months, that made me feel better cause my daughter didn't walk until after her first birthday, but she speaks very well.
