theres a disorder where people pretend they're sick for attention. i'm not taking about that. I mean like when people lie or make up stories about themselves to get attention from people. Or is it the same thing?

i dont mean when they make up stories about being ill.
Example: Someone tells someone else that they're parents abused them when they were a child when really they weren't. They tell people that they were abused so that they feel sorry for them and give them attention.

Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome is where a parent tells doctors or other people that their child is sick when they really aren't. Thats not what I'm talking about. Read the above example.

Munchausen Syndrome is the same as Munchausen by Proxy except instead of making people believe that theyre child is sick, they make people believe that they themselves are sick. Hypochondria is where they are overly afraid of diseases and fear that they have every type of illness possible..
None of these are what im thinking of lol. Maybe what i'm thinking of isn't really a disorder but just part of the person's personality

Take Munchausen Syndrome and apply the same principle to emotional things. Instead of telling doctors that they are physically ill, they tell people that they are mentally ill, or they make up stories about their life that aren't true. Would this still be considered Munchausen Syndrome?

There is not a specific disorder in which attention-seeking behavior is a primary characteristic. There are several personality disorders in which attention seeking behavior may or may not be one of many traits. They are Borderline PD and Histrionic PD. But just because someone lies or exaggerates illness does not mean they have a diagnosable mental health disorder. Like, you said, could just be a personality trait.

That is a symptom of a variety of illnesses. Hypochondriacs believe they are sick all of the time, but not necessarily for attention. Attention Deficit disorder is probably what you are talking about. Children with this disorder often get into trouble because they can't sit still because they get bored easily. They cause trouble for attention.

Adolecents work together into multiple hazard taking activities. whilst this maintains and deviates into self mutilations could be categorized, Self- Injurius Behaviors (SIB), in the event that they cut back that's categorized Self Mutilation. There relatively is not any sparkling cut back label as many that do those acts might have a sort of psychological subject concerns alongside with melancholy, stress, Schizophrenia, and so forth. whilst they Mutilate theirselves it relatively is a separate DSM class. in case you particularly pick a clarification i might recommend asking credible factors alongside with a Psychologist, or Counselor. on account which you won't get the respond your searching for on right here

It's called my ex-husband--the making up stories part--his mother and her whole family did it so I'm sure it's hereditary. You're talking about Hypochondria where they think they have every illness coming down the pike. They thrive on being ill and talk about it all the time.

It's more than likely a personality disorder but which one I don't know. See a psychiatrist.
