why before a meal, do we thank god for it? i mean...here we are, eating the food our parents provided for us, while others(innocent, good people who deserve nothing of what they get) out there are starving. why shall we thank god? i mean, he obviously isn't blessing us with this food if the other people out there are starving and they are just as good as us, if not even better.

...it's like god threw two people on a big ball and said "hell, i'll just sit back and watch what they do."

you know when i was little i remember my parents teaching me to be very religious and spiritual. to pray every night and before every meal. now i actually see things for what they are. horrible. the world is a horrible place. there is not heaven, hell and earth. there are 2 hells and maybe a heaven.
i'd rather skip this and go straight to heaven. why live here? what's so special about it? if there even is a heaven...

can someone please help me understand this more and get over my greif?

Would you rather thank the guy downstairs instead? It's how the way world works honey. The good with the bad, the haves and the have nots. Inequality makes us grateful for the things we have.

The first thing is you really need to dig a little bit deeper than what you have, no disrespect indented. God gives all of us the same rules, the same love, the freewill to make choices as we want to. God talks about always helping the poor, he said when you give to them, you are giving to him. Some people make choices, bad, good, or not at all, some are born with money, never knowing what a struggle is, keep up the fight of helping the needy and feeding the poor. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. Sometimes their just isn't a great answer, but we have to believe and do what is right no matter who else is doing wrong.I feel you, I really do. All over the world their are people spreading the word of God, some want it some don't. People don't believe in God, prayer, miracles anymore. So we wonder why the world is like it is today. But remember one thing: GOD SAID THE RIGHTEOUS WOULD NOT HAVE TO BEG FOR BREAD. I have not meant to offend you in any way, just trying to give you some food for thought.

Who gives your parents the health to work and provide for you? God does. Every good thing that comes into our lives comes straight from the Lord to us. This alone is reason to pray, but there is so much more to be thankful for. Pain and suffering is part of life and the poor will always be with us, Jesus says. But there are many people who have nothing but are far richer than alot of people because they have something / someone that money can't buy...........Eternal life and Jesus Christ. So be thankful. You are blessed!

This will always be something you grieve over, so long as you don't become stone-hearted. But if it has made such an impact on you, I suggest you do something drastic about it. Become involved with societies that help those who don't have food on the table, clothes on their backs, books for their children. With passion, endurance, and direction you can turn your grief into something positive.

Sin is the sole reason for suffering. Because of sin our lives will never be the sugar coated fantasies that we all wished they were. The only way to have JOY(which is completely separate and BETTER than happiness) is through God and your relationship with him.

Why, indeed. It's not like the food just magically appeared on the table. Someone had to go out and work for the money to buy the food. I see no hand of god in a plate of food -- otherwise, there would be no starving people anywhere.

I thank God for everything good or bad. I say grace before meals to thank God, for the sun, He provided to grow my vegetables, for the water He created to water the plants and animals. I thank God for the farmer who grew my meat and vegetables, and for bringing them to market for people to buy. I thank God for the job I have to be able to buy my food and pay my mortgage. I thank God for everything. God Bless

Things aren't perfect all the time and God always gets blamed when people don't like what is going on in their life. I have done that before to blame god when i don't like something in my life, but does god get thanked when everything is going good to.
