It drives him crazy. This is really what puts enmity between him and THE WOMAN because Mary was so humble. All she said was "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done unto me according to his word" Talk about getting his goat. Don't you agree?

When Gabriel came to Mary and said Hail full of grace, you have found favor with the Lord and....After she said how could this happen because she did not know man then she said this piece. Very beautiful and telling.

I like what St. Thomas More had to say about it: "The devil...that proud spirit...cannot endure to be mocked."
Mary's humility was in direct contrast to Satan's pride and ego. He couldn't stand the idea that mere human beings could be so loved by God that He would send His Son to die for us. Satan had been given so much beauty and intelligence -- far more than we'll ever have -- and yet God chose us to be the heirs of salvation through Christ.
No wonder the devil hated (and still hates) the Blessed Virgin and all those who love her Son!

no I don't acutally I don't usually characterize the fantasy of
the supernatural because there is no guidance beyond the adolescent parent as a rule . But if I did parential guidance required of course I would characterize the devil as much more loving and progressive teaching people the virtues of an intellectually well guided course of reason and sanity in ones defective society ascued to the childish outlook and behavior that is prevailent in todays world. this would no doubt include the balanced sense of a humility that is not a push over as the weak minded fools that believe in patriotism when they send their children to be killed in the name of freedom for the war mongers that actually have no real humility in their false god given beliefs.

Ok, I'm throwing away a perfectly good answer and now my score goes down, but...huh? I...I have never seen a scripture to support this. I've read the bible a few times, but I don't remember this doctorine.
Is this a question?
Now if there is scripture to support that, please tell me, I love learning new doctrine, and that would be an interesting tidbit to know. If it is not doctrine...well be careful. Most people don't realize the danger in adding to the scriptures, but it is there and it is real. It was one of the prime downfalls of the Hebrew religion before Christs coming, coming up with new doctorine. It always sounded nice, but it is dangerouse.

Yeah...I'd love to be the unwitting surrogate mother for a deity...the whole incubus deal...but I guess it was easier to be the "handmaid of the Lord" than the "mother of Joseph's illegitimate baby".

I believe the devil can imitate anything, including humility. You say that as a fact, not an opinion.

Thank you for posting this. Do not worry about the ones that are giving you heat. They cannot stand that we are happy. They are living in darkness. We must pray for them.

I'm not about to behave as a little, subservient, humble female. I got bills to pay and work to do.

I only agree that it's sad when anyone old enough to type is worried about "Devils" and imitating humility. Sad, indeed.

Did you know that the devil is a mythical creature, that he is just made up?
