Just based on looks, the NV11 beats the G7. However, the NV11 has a bad time at keeping down noise. This means night shots will be hard to take. It's back buttons can sometimes be a nuisance to use.
With the G7, you get a camera built like a tank. It's nice, and has some really good features. It does pretty well at high ISO.
Have you looked into the Canon S3 IS? It's a camera you might find better than the G7.

My vote is for the G7. I have the G6, and it is a great camera. The G7 does lack RAW, and its lens is a little slower than the G6, but it is a very capable camera.

I use a Samsung at work, I have never been impressed with it, but it is 3 years old. I'm sure the NV11 is much improved. I still prefer the Canon.
