You don't need to ask other people what they think of this. A minister is like a guide, a teacher. You said you love this place, and you believe Gods spirit is with you in every service. We do all learn at different levels and needs. This decision is between you and God. If it's right for you then there should be no questions. Other people feel differently, so that should have nothing to do with your decision. This is totally your decision. It may not be right for me or someone else, but it is right for you. Be thankful you found a church that brings you this joy , which fills you with the love of God.

The preacher is right, except about saving you and that is probably the issue at hand.
Often we expect people to save us. That is really bad. Your pastor cannot save you and if you think he can, if you believe he is trying you will not get any place.
Your faith has to be in God. When you place your faith in God you will receive the Holy Ghost, you will understand scripture and you will gain spiritual gifts. You may be a healer (Maybe one that no one ever can acknowledge), you may be a speaker, or a writer, or a doer of some kind.
PS: By the way, don't listen to uneducated boobs who would not know proof or evidence if it bit them in the butt. There is more than enough evidence for the existence of God and the Holy Spirit. It is irrational and illogical to dismiss the evidence for the existence of God out of arrogance or stupidity. I am an engineer and I depend on science and proof on a daily basis. I am also a Christian.
Just focus on God, through the grace of the Lord Jesus, and you will receive the Holy Spirit.

I have heard of this before, but it goes liek this, you have to talk in tongues, so kind of the same thing, because you have to have the holy ghost to talk in tongues. I believe in john 3:16, ...that whoever should believe will have everlasting life. This means that being saved is a free gift, unless you believe in loosing your salvation. I have also heard that if a person has other addictions that they will not go to heaven, but it depends on what a person chooses to believe. The gift is being saved is a person's fire insurance, as far as I am concerned and recieving the holy ghost, is sometimes harder for some people to get and for those that don't get it right away, makes those saved people feel like they are going to hell.

I believe the Holy Spirit comes to a person and convicts them of their sinful condition. Once they repent and receive Jesus as Savior, the Holy Spirit enters the person and stays. I believe this is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I know that the Pentecostal churches take it a little farther and expect people who are saved to speak in tongues. I believe this is possible, but not necessary for salvation. The Pentecostal seem to focus on the Holy Spirit and the gifts where as others focus on Jesus and all His teachings. It's a minor difference, and not worth arguing over, unless you don't think you are saved unless you speak in tongues. There's no scripture to back that up and that's why I don't believe it. I know I never spoke in tongues when I got saved and there's no doubt at all about my salvation. All my family, all my friends, and I, myself have witnessed the change in my life. The Holy Spirit bears witness to me that I am a child of God. I hope you come to a peace about your beliefs and I am sure if you continue to ask God, He will give you the answers you need. God bless you.

First off to come to God for salvation you are brought there by the Holy Ghost. If you get saved you have the Holy Ghost.Jesus left the comforter with us to convict us of our sins and to teach us Gods word. You follow Jesus by being baptized with water and then if you believe and thirst you can be baptized with the Holy Ghost, which is already in you,to an over flowing Baptism that is where you speak with stammering lips. You can also sing in the spirit .I think this is Gods way of blessing us when we are in deep need and we need to feel him close to us and have our spirits lifted. Not everyone reaches this type of baptizm but all who believe in Jesus as their Savior and live by the commandments are saved and will be with him in the new world.God Bless

I'm extra into 'answering' than 'asking' right here on Y!A and, such as you, a few of my responses do get really verbose.. However,... ... whilst I do publish the occasional query, the respondent I am definitely to award the, albeit doubtful, award of "Best Answer" to is the reply that I consider was once the effect of anyone who took the time to proffer a 'considerate' reply to my question. That's the rationale why I mainly scroll to the backside of the web page of solutions and paintings my long ago up; for the more severe solutions are mainly the final ones published. I've even been realize to deliver a BA to a reaction that I disagreed with, - and most effective considering I felt the hassle given to 'create' that reply was once extra invaluable of the dignity than than someone-liner posts I would possibly occur to believe. I do have a couple of puppy peeves, despite the fact that: I DO NOT LIKE COPY/PASTE ANSWERS: C/P excerpts inside an reply are first-class,.. however to present only a C/Ped piece from, say, a WIki article is NOT an reply: It is plagiarism...:-)) 'TEXT SPEAK' AGRAV8S ME: Y!A is a Q&A discussion board, now not a talk room. There is tons of time on right here to fully spell out the phrases to an reply. SPELLING COUNTS, - AND SYNTAX MATTERS: We all make errors, and that is k,... ...however there's little excuse for the deplorable orthographics I as a rule see displayed right here on Y!A, - specially whilst there's convenient entry to the 'Check Spelling' characteristic. LONG ANSWERS ARE NOT ALWAYS GOOD ANSWERS: I've determined that the intolerably prolonged solutions are mainly the effect of of an over-zealous 'reduce-and-paster'. I will deliver a thumbs-right down to such solutions with a purpose to facilitate my entry to different solutions. I consider that is approximately it...:-)) So, MumOF4,... ... for those who see that I've published a query, consider loose to reply it with 'highest verbosity', and realize that your reaction will definitely take delivery of my concentration...:-)) -

The Apostle Paul clearly taught that we receive the Holy Spirit the moment we believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior. 1 Corinthians 12:13 declares, "For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body-whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free - and we were all given the one Spirit to drink." Romans 8:9 tells us that if a person does not possess the Holy Spirit, he or she does not belong to Christ - "You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." Ephesians 1:13-14 teaches us that the Holy Spirit is the seal of salvation for all those who believe, "Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of his glory."
These three Scriptures make it clear that the Holy Spirit must be received at the moment of salvation. Paul could not say that we all were baptized by one Spirit and all given one Spirit to drink if not all of the Corinthian believers possessed the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:9 is even stronger. If a person does not have the Spirit, he does not belong to Christ. Therefore, the possession of the Spirit is an identifying factor of the possession of salvation. Further, the Holy Spirit could not be the “seal of salvation” (Ephesians 1:13-14) if He is not received at the moment of salvation. Many Scriptures make it abundantly clear that our salvation is secured the moment we receive Christ as Savior.

I think what you are trying to say here is that they believe you have to "speak in tongues" to get into heaven and that is not true. When you accept Christ into your heart, you recieve the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives in you and the bible says in order to be saved and gain eternal life, all you have to do is accept Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is part of Christ and comes to live in you when you accept him.

We are saved by grace, through faith, just as the bible says. "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved". Remember whatever anyone tells you, always compare it to scripture. The bible never says you have to "receive the holy ghost" in order to be saved.

I believe that you believe something that is good to you. as long as you believe strong and carry on, you can do no wrong.
I am an atheist, I have no place of worship. I dont believe there is a god nor a need for being saved, i think your wrong, but then again so do you think im wrong.
i believe we should all believe what we want, im glad your not saying "your all going to hell" or "youd better believe or else!"
