I have combination skin. I've read articles where you're only supposed to moisturize once a day. Some articles say twice a day - once in the morning and once at night. Which one is it?

You should moisturize your skin twice a day.

You should always wash and tone your skin before applying a moisturizer.

In the morning you apply a moisturizer with SPF to protect your face during the day.

In the evening you again wash and tone your skin and apply an eye gel and moisturizer that is suited for night time. Basically your night time cream must have restorative ingredients like Jojoba, Vitamin C, Collagen or Matrixyl to repair damage from the day and a ingredients that will hydrate your skin, like Shea Butter and other similar ingredients.

Twice a day. Once of the most common misconceptions of combo or oily skin is that it doesn't need moisture at all, or not as often. That is incorrect. It just needs the right kind of moisture (ie. a moisturizer as opposed to sebum from your face). An oil free gel moisturizer works great - Clinique Moisture Surge Extra. Or, if you'd like some protection, Clinique Moisture Surge Extra SPF25. Hope this helps! Oh, and morning and night is best.

I use an organic brand that has been around for over 35 years that is tried & true--Dr. Hauschka. They say moisturize only in the morning after cleansing. They say do NOT moisturize before bedtime because that is when your skin regenerates. If you are moisturizing then; your skin doesn't naturally regenerate. It's true, I have moister skin since I haven't been using a night moisturizer for the last 3 months.

You should wash and moisturize twice a day. Before bed to wash away everything from the day and moisturize, your skin replenishes itself at night so this is very important. Again in the morning because while you are sleeping your pores open up and push sebum and dead skin cells out - so you want to be sure to wash that away and moisturize your skin again.

It really depends on your face and the oil you produce. If you clean your face once or twice or once in the morn. and once at night it changes the amount of moisturizer you need to use. If you only clean your face once a day I would recommend moisturizing your face after you clean it. Therefore if you clean your face twice a day, you should moisturize your face twice a day.

I am a licensed esthetician. You need to moisturize your skin twice a day. Once in the am and once in the pm. To prevent you from being oily all depends on what type of moisturizer you use. I recommend Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion, it has macrophages in it which absorb double their body weight making your skin not shiny and still supple preventing wrinkles.

You should always moisturize after you wash your face, so usually in the morning and night.

My skin is combination also and I moisturize twice a day.
Just make sure your moisturizer is for normal to dry skin and use it sparingly on those oily spots.

at night wash face gently and apply moisturizer on face and neck for sleeping.
If you have very dry skin do not use make up just use moisturizer.

Personally, I think you should moisturize your face everytime you wash your face. For most folks that's twice a day.
