Jesus saved me from deep depression over 36 years ago. I have never been depressed since. He saves us from so much more than that.

Any religion may do that. They create a sense of community and love usually. However, some people in the gathering are wicked and will gossip about you or isolate you because you are too unChristian or something strange like that. Once again, any group of people may do that.
Religion may affect you for the worse. I've known Christian friends who are depressed, so not all Christians are chipper. One who's deeply religious but thinks she's not perfect enough for God, and as such hates herself to the point of being suicidal. Every sex-related thought she has torments her to the point of denial.
However those go beyond the point of religion and my point is this: Don't take religion like a pill. Don't force it down your throat. Be patient. Eat better, sleep better, exercise better, and take some time every day to meditate. If you find things aren't improving, go on medication or head to therapy if you are not already trying that. Ask your friends for emotional support. And instead of religion, try some other community-related grouping. Take a sign-language course or join some sort of club.
Deluding yourself by forcing a religion on yourself does more harm in the long run. I'm not saying the Christian belief is false, only that if you believe in it for false reasons you will feel crippled.

Hi Heron, I have already told you the remedy for your depression to answers of some of your other questions. Your Sticking to Hinduism or going back to Christianity or changing over to some other religion is not the cure for your depression. You can do which ever convenient and liked by you.

But medicines also are not the cure for your depression. It will aggravate the position only. You choose something which you like more and most and spend your time on that. Also start doing meditation immediately, by this only you will come your depressed mood. Be cheerful and do not think much on anything take life easy. This will help you. Best of luck..

Not necessarily. Christians aren't immune to depression. However, trusting God with your problem would certainly help you, though it isn't a "magic bullet" that would cure you immediately. Sometimes God does heal instantaneously, but not always. Also, becoming a Christian is not like signing up for something to see if it works. It is something done out of a sincere heart and conviction. Do you believe you are a sinner in need of saving? Are you repentant/sorry for your sins and want to change? Do you believe Jesus Christ is the risen Son of God and is able to save your soul and give you everlasting life? These are questions you must ask yourself. God knows your heart and whether you are sincere--He can't be fooled by man. In addition to trusting God to heal you or help you through your depression, you would be wise to find a good Christian counselor. If you have Christian friends, maybe they know of someone they could recommend-or maybe their pastor could recommend someone. Whatever you do, you shouldn't put off seeking help. You don't say how severe your depression is or if you have an idea of what may be causing it, but there is hope and help available. Please seek it soon. I will pray for you also.

Hi Heron, I am sorry to see that you are still dealing with depression.

I don't know if it would go away right now, I have been a Christian for several years and still fight with depression. But I can tell you that I know that I have peace as I walk out my Christianity. That through Jesus I have healing and faith to carry on when I get depressed. That I can turn on praise music and be filled with great joy.
He will give you the peace that passes understanding. I never understood that until I had it.

I don't get the radical bouts of suicidal depression that I had. I don't have to take meds anymore. I know when I am fighting a battle and I know that I will be victorious.Because of Christ.

anytime you want prayer, email me. I will pray for you for whatever you like.

be blessed in Jesus~vicki

Seriously, no my friend. If you become a Christian right now- It comes in time. Just as anything comes in time. You know how we call a pizza man, but yet the pizza man does not show up until a half an hour so you get in the cabinet and start eating chips. Except for God's time you may have to wait longer. But He start's working in you the minute you ask Him in your life. So I would have to say {Yes} If you become a Christian right now, you will start to feeel better just knowing all around the World Brother's and Sister's are supporting you and care for you.

It might help, might not, depending on the reason for the depression. I have seen things change dramatically in the lives of people. That is usually the exception. Depression can be complex. Both a thought process issue and a chemical issue.
Do you have any reasonable christian people around you that you can turn to? They may be able to help you better, face to face.
Take care.... as I said before e-mail me and we can talk.

It's definitely possible! GOD HEALS! If you honestly believe in your heart that God is real and true and Jesus died for your sins so that you didn't have to pay the price and you can go to heaven, then you can be a 'christian'
Jesus saves! Once you start to walk in the light with Jesus your life will definitely change. If you really believe in all of what you are doing in making this decision to become a believer and follow Christ and go to heaven, then awesome! The angels in heaven will rejoice! You will probably be very happy! Starting down this path will be different for you. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but when you get depressed God will be there for you!!
God Bless!

No. Talk to your DOCTOR - do not try anything to treat a medical problem.
That's how humanity got stuck cutting up chickens and other animals. Look at all the animals dying so old men can have... different subject.
Ok, I'll stop ranting, sorry.

See a real medical doctor, first.

Christ is not a genie in a bottle, you have to do more than just try to practice the teachings of Christ you have to believe that He is the Son of the Living God who died on the cross, was dead and buried and rose again the third day to ascend to sit at the right hand of the Father who is blessed forever Amen.

I suspect that you are feeling a letdown after the thrill of having received your degree. Do you have someone you can talk to, like a counselor?

As far as becoming a Christian, it is important for you as an individual to speak heart to heart with God. I know that you believe very strongly in God. You cannot know what the truth is unless you open the Communication lines with God and feel for yourself what it is that He wants you to do.

God knows about your depression! He wants to help you and is waiting to hear from you.
