I am sorry but raji the green witch has not answered the question but imposed her own question here instead.. You are wrong The Bible says that God hates sin...We as Christians are not to hate sinners but yes we are to hate sin...And we are not to judge for the sake of belittling others but yes we are to judge actions and use love and correction to guide people back to the ways of God. As for the tattoo your body is a temple, treat it as such..However, if your friend gets the tattoo that is between him?her and The Lord. Getting a tattoo is not the unforgivable sin.And in any case The Lord looks at "the intentions of the heart". God Bless.

Okay, I get a kick out of religious people! Running around saying God said this, the Bible says this, and so on... Most often they are just saying what they have heard someone else say... HELLO! Okay, yes the Bible did say not to cut yourself or put marks on your body but look at what the situation was. He was talking to the children of Israel who had just been delivered out of Egypt telling them not to put the markings as the .... keywords here.. Egyptians did.. The Egyptions would mark/tattoo their god's all over their bodies. If people would read and study this stuff out it would be so simple but instead you have a bunch of wanna talk but not walk people giving real Christians a bad rep by their ignorance. Ok, as far as the mark of the beast claim.. Well sure if you're dumb enough to tattoo 666! Oh and the.. your body being the temple of the Holy Spirit.. Yes, so after shoving that big ol' bacon double cheeseburger down your throat, clogging every artery and stopping your heart up til you go into cardiac arrest... which would be abusing the temple... Me and my tattooed self will pray for you.. AngelGirl, it's a personal conviction. If you don't feel that it's a stumbling block.. a reasonable stumbling block, some people always have a complaint... in yours or someone elses life go for it. God Loves us so much baby! Oh, and he even loves the goofy religious nuts!

Question: "What does the Bible say about tattoos / body piercings?"

Answer: The Old Testament law commanded the Israelites, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28). So, even though believers today are not under the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15), the fact that there was a command against tattoos should cause us to question. The New Testament does not say anything about whether a believer should or should not get a tattoo.

In relation to tattoos and body piercings, a good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use the particular activity for His own good purposes. "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). The Bible does not command against tattoos or body piercings, but it also does not give us any reason to believe God would have us get tattoos or body piercings.

Another issue to consider is modesty. The Bible instructs us to dress modestly (1 Timothy 2:9). One aspect of dressing modestly is making sure everything that should be covered by clothing is adequately covered. However, the essential meaning of modesty is not drawing attention to yourself. People who dress modestly dress in such a way that they do not draw attention to themselves. Tattoos and body piercings most definitely draw attention. In this sense, tattoos and body piercings are not modest.

An important Scriptural principle on issues that the Bible does not specifically address is that if there is room for doubt as to whether it pleases God, then it is best to not engage in that activity. "For whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Romans 14:23). We need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God. Although 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 does not directly apply to tattoos or body piercings, it does give us a principle, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and where we go with our bodies. If our bodies belong to God, we should make sure we have His clear "permission" before we "mark it up" with tattoos or body piercings.

Leviticus speaks out against cutting or tattooing your body. Of course, if you use this verse alone to condemn tattoos, then you'd better not be eating shellfish or wearing clothes made of 2 fabrics (which Leviticus also condemns). This should also mean that no Christian should have pierced ears, either.

I'm a Christian and I have 3 tattoos and 6 piercings (including 2 in each of my ears). I don't feel that any thing I've chosen to put on my body is directly offensive to God.

I don't personally feel conviction over my decisions. I believe God is more concerned about the nature of hearts then he is about whether or not we get a tattoo on a temporary body.

1. No
2. God said so, the one lady gave you the book, chapter, and verse.
3. See answer 1
4. Because they are heathens.

Really, just remember, Christans are "set apart" they are not to "be part of this world." "but a holy priest hood" We are not of this world even though we are in this world. does it mean if we do we will bust hell wide open, no, but it does not edify God in any way. Us marking ourselves does not raise up God at all. as to your question of 3, a symbol of faith, " God, said it is much better to have our obedience, than our sacrifices. a symbol, can easily become an Idol.

I think you should ask your friend this,
Will this tattoos bring God Glory, dose it help point the lost and dying world to the only one who can redeem them. If not why bother, unless you just want it for your self, then if that is the case, don't tie God into it.

I don´t like tattoos, i don´t like needles. to me seeing a tattoo tells me that is some one to stay away from. same as body piercings. not fond of them either. I do have family that has both. And i can not find any passage in the bible to say its wrong for the most part. but, think of this, If God made you and he liked what he did, then why do you hate it? Why do you have to change it?

I did read you question, and i am trying to give you answers, to help you with. maybe some one with more knowledge then me can give you more help. Good Luck with your friend :)

1. No.
2. God wants us to take care of our bodies. It is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Getting a tattoo will definitely cause complication, allergies in your body. I have a friend who cannot donate blood because his blood is infected because of a tatoo.
3. No matter what is the reason behind, the answer is NO.
4. that is already their own concern. but for hygiene and your own health's sake, do not follow them.

In Hebrew thought, everything is a reminder to us an of God and what we believe in. Wearing clothes that is not mixed fabrics is a reminder of our purity before God.

Eating kosher is a reminder to you every time you eat discern what you put into your body. This also applies to what you listen to, lending your ears out to gossip or not. The action is decrement and is practiced into a lifestyle when you eat three times (or more) a day.

When you tattoo your body, what does it remind you of? Is this the way God wants us to remember His Word by tattooing it all over our bodies. We are suppose to be the Light to the world, shining through our actions what we believe. How can you be a light in this dark world if you do exactly the same things as the unbelievers in the world? How do you shine then?

God hates mixing and especially mixing pagan things with His Holy things. You are Holy as He is Holy, so walk according to what He defined in His Word in order to comply to His Holy standard. Then you will be set apart (holy) and shine His Light. (actions)

I would think it would be unsitely, guess it would depend on what kind of tatoo. Jesus was pierced for us, I know that, but I don't think that means we should pierce ourselves either. You ask about other religions and the tatoo of a cross or rosary, etc.. depends if it is a graven image or image that we are not to portray as in the heavens, earth, or sea. Hard questions to answer

I know of Christians with tattoos and I don't think that it will affect them too much. I won't get one because I have seen some on elderly folk and people who have expanded and people who have expanded and then shrunk and they did not look so great. I do think it would be a problem if a Christian had something like I love Satan or some other nonsense, but nature or I love my mom or something would not be a big deal. Avoid girlfriends and boyfriends names though, that can come back and bite you (experience, my mom)
