How about Trouble? I often give a name due to a trait of the cat/kitten. I have one named Princess Froggie. When she was born (I rescued the mom cat) and later , she sounded just like the frogs in the artificial pond where I was living. She also obviously considered herself a princess (and still does). I have 5 cats now, my baby, a maine coon born into my hands on my birthday, died last year at 19 and a half years old. His name was Ozymainedias from the bible with an extra i for maine. He was called Oz. His grandson is called Slainte, an Irish/Celtic greeting since he always runs to the door to greet anyone who comes. Princess has two sisters, Miss Pearl and FairyFay. Other cats I have had had names out of books such as Smaug (the dragon, since he was a cream point siamese) and his mother Anduin (Andy, one of the smartest cats I have known). All the cats I have had over the years HAVE known their names, just sometimes they wanted to assert Independence and not answer,

Actually... from what I notice, cats don't bother about names, especially kittens. I have raise many kittens till they are big cats. They never response to any names whch I call. But when I think of something and meow to it, they knew what it means. I read that all cats can read minds. If they are very close to you, they will understand whatever you are saying. And strangely, you will start to communicate with them in their languages, without you knowing it.
I recall once I saw some baby mice in a cupboard. I saw my cat far away and call to her by saying some meow words, surprisingly the cat knew what they are suppose to do and quickly run towards me. Then another time, I wanted to bath the cat. I knew if I carry the towel or something, they might knew it. So, I pretend to sit down to read a bok on the sofa. Pity, the cat look at me and meow. I look at her and immediately she vanish. No choice, I have to hold a plate of cat food and wait while the cat unwillingly appear. By then, I lsot the mood to wash her.
Back to naming the cat. I think you just try to talk to it as often as you can. Also, try saying meow in a different way to response of their meow sound. You should notice a different. Eventually, without a reason, you will know how to address her which you knew will works. It usually sound a bit like mimi, meowmi or something similar. Don't believe try it. You have two cats, good, you will notice they response to one sound while the other won't. Think of yourself as a cat when you are calling them. Over time it will come naturally. Just remember, cat has ESP! They read minds! Well, most does!

He sounds like a kitten I had years ago. I named him "Elmer" or here's another cute name. "Hudson" Wish you all the best with your kitten. Take care of him and you'll have a real friend and unconditional love from him. Take care and have a great life.
