We just got a 9 week old lab/retriever/shepard mix and he breaths very fast. Not really panting just breathing as fast as a normal dog pants. Is this ok?

it might just be panting.
If you get worried about him take him to the vet.
I hope it all goes well.

Wow, my puppies don't breathe fast when they are sleeping, I have to check to see if they are still breathing. I guess if the puppy just finished exercising. I would mention it to the vet the next time you go in for shots to be safe. It doesn't sound like kennel cough, but it could be because it is hot out.

It can be very normal for puppies to breathe fast. Both their breathing and heartrates are faster at that age. Have your vet check him out if you're not sure.

No, it is not normal. He could have a serious heart condition. I would take him to your vet ASAP as heart conditions don't heal themselves. The best of luck to you =)
