Ive always heard other christians say "you have what you speak out of your mouth". what scripture is this from?

I'm thinking of the scripture that basically says whenever you speak something it will make it happen. Like if your always going around saying " I'm going to have a bad day", you give life to it.

Perhaps this is what they are thinking of.

Matt.15

[11] not what goes into the mouth defiles a man, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."
[18] But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a man.

Cheers :-)

Hello and the closest i can come up with [your phrase is not in the bible] is this found in Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
6:44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like:
6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Mark 11 but it is out of context. Those people are the "Believe and Receive" "Name it and Claim it" "Blab it and Grab it" group.Jesus explains "if you ask anything in my name and it be in the Father's will you will receive it".You must read all Jesus' words to get the context.

This is a misapplication by "name it and claim it" churches. This kind of thinking was condemned in the church to Laodecia.

Joh 16:23
“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you."

sounds like the name it and claim it false doctrine of kenneth copeland (and others)...from the book copeland 101,,,chapter 1:666.

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

One text that exemplifies your question is: "Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” -Proverbs 18:21

This, I believe, is what they are speaking of...akin to the idea of positive confession, which does not include a "name it claim it" theology. We can to some degree, steer the ship by our attitude and confession.
