No! They could both seriously injure one another. They require many different needs. You need to choose one or the other or house them seperatley.

Guinea Pigs don't get brain tumors often, like another poster said. That's ridiculous.
However, rats and guinea pigs shouldn't be housed together. There are different housing and nutritional needs and they will have dominance issues and hurt each other. Get one or the other. I have never had rats, but love my guinea pigs. They are not disposable pets though and require specific care. Cost should be considered for whatever you choose. Food, bedding, vitamins, big enough cages, and vet care.. all needs to be considered before you buy.

No, please don't house a guinea pig and a rat together! Along with the great possibility that they will fight, they both require different types of cages, food, toys, etc.
Although, if you do decide to get either a guinea pig or a rat please get two of the same sex. Both of these animals are very social and do best with a cagemate.

No, unless they are caged separately and never intend to interact. Rats, although sweet, can be aggressive towards other rodent species (I had one attack a rabbit, kill a mouse & gerbil, kill a small turtle, etc.)
Rats should only be kept with other rats.
Good companions (outside of the cage, due to different dietary requirements) for guinea pigs are rabbits. They are wonderful play pals, but again, should be housed separately, due to different dietary needs.
