if you dog is bad how do u punish it ?
( i know how personally but i would like to know how every1 else does it )

personally if my dog ignores me 1nce i tell them off 2wice and i tap them on the nose. if they steel out of my hand pee on the floor or raid the bin they get a chase out to the garden a shout and a push out the bum on the way out.
if they do anything like fight with another dog, growl at me or kill an animal. a slap on the bum and out the garden for 20 mins. if they kill an amimal they are out there for 1hour.

is this the normal way to punish a dog?

Punish my dogs? When I was younger and more excitable I went through the newspaper and putting them out and everything you said. Now that I am older and have mellowed and I guess gained a bit of wisdom, I just figure they are dogs and whatever they did is probably my fault. Like not putting the TV remote some place they could not get. You should see the collection of chewed up remotes and phones I have. When I would come home and find the remote or the dumped garbage can I would say in a stern voice "Bad Dog". They would drop their ears and tail and look sad. Then I would clean up the mess and ignore them. Once the mess was cleared I would call them and give them a treat. All this happened when they were puppies. Now that they have grown, youngest is 4 years, I can leave them all day and come home to no problems, well most of the time. They will still bring things from the yard and leave them in the house.
I say treat them nice. They will grow and be less of a problem. Don't leave any temptation for them, I had to teach my grandson to put the remote and phone up. The main thing to remember is that they are dogs and have an IQ much lower then yours. And yes they seem to forget everything quickly, except the punishment. They will not forget that slap. Never hit them.
They are your pets, companion and want to do nothing more then please you. But, like I said they are dogs and are going to screw up once in a while.
Don't punish them! Train them! Love them!

Your dog has no idea why you chase it into the garden. It just know you are displeased. Slapping them on the bum too much can lead to hip problems later because most likely that is the area that feels the slaps. Although we treat our dogs like human children, they are not human, and therefore not as intelligent. They know you are angry but they don't know why. I put my dogs out when I eat so they cannot beg for scraps. Problem solved. They should never growl at you but if they do it is because they feal threatened. Try rewarding good behavior and discouraging bad behavior by distracting them and getting them to do something good. If they only get attention for naughty things, they will repeat the bad behavior.

First of all, you don't punish a dog, you correct them, and your methods DO NOT WORK!!!
Isolating them in the garden doesn't work because they don't associate it with the bad behavior, they just know that they are in the garden by themselves, just like why you said taking something away wouldn't work, they forget too quickly what they've done.
You need to punish a behavior by correcting them WHILE they are doing it by telling them NO! Or by grabbing the scruff of their neck and give a quick shake while saying NO. Hitting, spainking, isolating and other punishments do not work on a dog, and it is proff they don't work if you are having to continue to punish bad behavior. A good correction and praise when they are acting correctly will modify behavior very quickly and you won't have need for punishments.

Hitting a dog will cause it to fear you and may lead to aggression. Dogs learn through operant conditioning. You must catch them in the act, CORRECT them, not punish, and show them what you want instead, then praise when they get it right. Dogs simply do not understand delayed punishment--their brains do not work that way. Yes, he will know you are upset with him, but he simply cannot understand why. Get a good dog training book, preferably by Dr. Ian Dunbar, and you will learn the correct ways to train a dog.

HI YOU HAVENT SAID WHAT TYPE OF DOG-DOGS YOU HAVE, BUT THEY SOUND LIKE THEY NEED A BIT OF TRAINING DONT KICK A DOG UP THE BUM YOU COULD INTERNALLY HURT THEM, NO GOOD SCREAMING AT THEM EITHER JUST DEEPEN YOUR VOICE AND SPEAK STERNLY AT THEM, WHEN YOU SAY THEY KILL SOMETHING WHAT DO YOU MEAN KILL WHAT, IF THEY KILL EXAMPLE ANOTHER DOG OR CAT OR BITE A PERSON THEY SHOULD BE PUT DOWN, THEY THEN CANNOT BE TRUSTED SO WHEN YOU ASK QUESTIONS BE MORE SPECIFIC BUT DONT HIT OR KICK THE DOG, FIND A BETTER WAY TO DISCIPLINE YOU DOGS.
