Are you referring to a person or a body region?

A hypochondriac is a person who perceives every symptom as a medical illness or emergency. This is a mental illness. For example, if he gets a cold, he will think he has pneumonia. The doctor can run all sorts of tests but the person won't believe it and will go from doctor to doctor and suffer extreme anxiety over his health.

Hypochondriac also applies to a region of the body located on either side of the abdomen below the false ribs.
