People can develop allergies later in life, so even if you have not been allergic to avacodos before it is very possible that you are now. One thing to do is go to a doctor or allergist and inform him on your allergy. Since you know the culprit, all they have to do is give you a simple skin test and you will be able to know if you are allergic or not. Hope this helps!

I would say that you might be allergic. As an avocado lover myself, I feel for you. You could try not eating them for awhile (like a year maybe) and then just try a tiny bit and see what happens. If you get the same reaction again than I would consult a doctor or allergist about. Since allergies can become worse with repeated exposer, I would definitely stop eating them though.

The itchy throat is a reaction of sorts. It means your body IS telling you that there is something in the avocado that it doesn't like or can't tolerate that well. Be very careful girl, as this could build into a full blown allergic reaction, especially as it affects the throat.
Can you just do without the avocado? Or get tested for allergies?

I think you are allergic, I've had that happen with things I was allergic to. I'm allergic to avacodos but often times when I don't eat things for awhile I can eat them again. I'm also allergic to latex, someone mentioned the combo not being uncommon.

It's oral allergy syndrom.
It comes from certain things around the area that the fruit or vegatable grows in, like ragwood or birch.
I have it too. I eat the foods I'm allergic to anyway.

Are you allergic to latex?
Latex sensitivity has been correlated with food allergy. The presence of latex-cross-reactive epitopes has been established in banana, avocado, and chestnut.
To answer your question, yes, there is avocado allergy, and sometimes these kind of persons are coincidentally allergic to latex, too.
