Yes,what about them? There really was only one temple, the place of sacrifice and the Holy Place in Jerusalem. "Temple' is often used for Reform or Conservative or Reconstructionist synagogues. Orthodoxsynsgogues(shuls) are never called temples.
Synagogues ,which enshrine the Holy Torah in the Holy Ark or "cupboard-like veneration-center",are primarily places for the study and preaching of Torah and then as places for liturgical worship according to the Siddur(prayerbook) of the denomination. Synagogues are also meetingplaces(what the word means in Greek) for all sorts of Jewish cultural and community functions.

Hasidic, Orthodox, and Conservative Jews call their place of "worship" a synagogue. Reform Jews refer to it as a temple..
