absolutely send her,,it`ll be the best thing you ever did,,,if she has interest in playing an instrument,,band camp will either enhance that desire or quench it,,she will either love it or hate it,,either way you will know how to spend your money in the future,,either on instruments or other activities,,this will actually help her decide,,before you spend a ton on an instrument that just sits in the closet......

Band camp is a neat learning tool plus gives the kids a head start on band season for competition. Don't be the parent that holds back your child. Band camp is something she will remember as a positive experience in school. She can get a head start on what she needs to learn and her grade will be better for it.

Yes! Yes! Yes!!
Band camp isn't like what you see on American Pie; That's just America's idiocy at work.
Band camp is extremely rewarding, and would be a wonderful chance for your child to better herself and to meet new friends who share the same interests in music!
I go to a Symphonic and Marching Band camp almost every summer! It's such a wonderful experience, and it has been extremely vital to my skills as a musician.

I would hold off on the band camp until next year. She might not like the claranet and then you would be wasting money. But after she takes the class at school and she still likes it and wants to go the I would let her. Test the water before you dive in.

I personally went to band camp. I am a Mom, and I had to chaperone the girls in my cabin. There is no way on Earth that your daughter will feel the connection with her band if she skips it. Reasons: all of the fun, the final night talent show, the karaoke night, the pajamas worn to breakfast in the morning, learning and practicing the half\time show. You know you've got to let her go.....! (You go too!)

If you can afford it then send her. At least she is interested in something other then watching tv and Paris Hilton. It would also give her a leg up on band class.

Let her go. While she is there it will give you time to practice your spelling or time to learn to use check spelling. She will come back a musician, and you won't look ignorant anymore.
