There is no punishment there will be a substitute driver in the 24 car if Jeff misses a race.

Why punish him.
Grant it he would lose points for one race(2 at the most) but he has a nice size lead and a very good releif driver lined up.
So the only problem will be getting up in the middle of the night to change and feed the baby.

punishment? there is no punishment except he will not make any points for that race, jeff is under contract to drive for hendrick not nascar ,so as long as hendrick is ok with it ,which he is because of the situation ,than nascar cannot put any kind of punishment on gordon.also i have respect for gordon for being with his wife while his child is born it shows that his family comes before racing and i think hes doing the right thing.

Someone else is already set to run his car for him if he has to miss a race. If he can at least take the green flag, he gets the points. Why would there be punishment?
