I worked in a pro shop some 50 years ago, and even then Titleist was THE golf ball to use. It is an excellent ball, but I agree with you, it is the player who makes the difference. Bad players using a Titleist will still be a bad player. I know when I played, I always felt better playing with a Titleist, so maybe it does give you more confidence. BUT you still have to strike the ball properly!!

Your ballstriking should not be influenced by your ball much if at all.
Your slice might decrease if you were playing a higher spin ball previous to the NXT Tour.
The most likely culprit for the better game is that small track between your ears.
Like any other piece of golf equipment, if you like it, like its performance and can afford it, play it.
By the way, another ball in that price range you might want to try is the Bridgestone E5. It's a 2-piece with a Urethane cover, so it will be less prone to slicing, but will still allow for a good amount of control around the green.
Hit 'em well!

Titleist balls do really make a big difference. See Titleist balls are a softer feeling ball compared to must other balls on the market. This means that they have a better feel when you hit then. And you will see a dramatic difference when you chip and putt with them. They also have newer technology, which in some ways can increase distance, and spin to help with drives and iron shots. All in all titleist golf balls really make a difference.

Consumers Reports tested a wide range of golf balls with a robot that hits exactly the same every time. They did rate Titleist balls high, but not for players with average swing speed.
Nevertheless, keep in mind that golf is a very mental sport. If you think you have better equipment, you may do better because you think you should - you may concentrate just a bit better, etc.

I don't know wtf wbaker777 is talking about. If you have 8 inches between your ears thats a problem. Somethings wrong with you. But seriously, balls do make a difference. And its not that just a titleist ball will be better for every golfer. Each golfer should play a variety of balls and find the one for him...or her. Personally I play Srixon Z-URC better than I play any other ball, but that is just because it fits me. If the NXT is what you like then its what you like. No one ball is better than another(except for Rock Flites), but it is only personal preference.

will a ball make your game better.....Nope.......but the 8 inchs between your ears may tell you its better. Golf is about confidence...if a particular brand of ball helps you be confident....go for it. (BTW I Only hit Pro V 1's)

The ball is better so it is probably a bit of both.

Ya, unless they get scuffed up or you play w/ one ball a ton of rounds, then it gets deformed. I play ProV1's and sometimes NXT's.
