It is a drug, and people fork out huge sums of money get that "good feeling" that comes from believing that you're part of a special group of people - the born again/rapture group.
Like a drug, people have to return for regular "fixes."
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a "bad" drug; that's all dependent on what you DO when you're "under the influence."
If you help others that are less fortunate, then your "habit" is justifiable.
If - on the other hand - you intentionally annoy and insult others, you are a debit to society.

queen: Its street value would be ALL the $ in the world since money IS a religion in it self. This is all you see today, on the streets is consumerism and $ ! If that is not a religion, what is ?

Religion is a drug. "It is the opium of the people" (Karl Marx).
I would expect it, as an opiate, to have the same street value as heroin; however, judging by the amount of money it costs its faithful followers, it seems to be more expensive than that.

Depending on who you sold it to, religion would be a drug of mixed reactions...
To the extremists, it should be charged top-dollar, because the risk of abuse would be far too great.
To a responsible individual, the drug would come at a modest price, because they would never become dependent on it.

the cost of religion is 10% of your income, but the free gift of God is eternal life. and it is free, no charge, but you can't sell it on the street, you can only give it away.
