Not literally, no. But there have been floods, namely when various earth movements have taken place. And I remember reading about something that looked kind of like an ark that was found on the top of Mt. Ararat. For all I know, it was built there to commemorate the Noah story.
Mostly, I think the story of Noah survives as an attempt to explain why there are fossils of animals that "did not make it into the ark" for whatever reason. And they are generally found preserved in muddy deposits, which would suggest a flood.
I live in St. Louis, Missouri, and I have a BA with honors from the University of Michigan, class of 1974. I was a philosophy major.

Until someone is allowed to go up on Mt. Sinai, however you spell it and say that there is no Ark and say what the object is, if it isn't the Ark, then i will believe in Noah and his ark. I can't tell ya where I live, I do live in the south, biblebelt, but I was raised Mormon. I also dabbled in wicca and was an atheist for a time. Then I got saved.

I believe A story of Noah, but not the biblical one. There are historians that have made interesting points of the story. I won't say it didn't happen because I wasn't there. But I don't think it happened like the bible said it did. Not to mention almost every faith in history has the exact same story, almost word for word.

The "story" was a steal from earlier cultures across a lot of years, and in all cases it was myth, fiction, false. Sure, there was a flood somewhere--a local flood at a time when one tribe or the inhabitants of one settlement had no idea that across the way was another tribe, another settlement. All there was, was their "world." Thus, a "world" flood as described by murdering Bronze Age desert nomads whose god we in 21st century "worship."
I'll pass on my education and background and where I'm presenting living, except to say, I'm in North America.
