I have a cat named Rusty and he has been tested for feline leukemia and he`s` clean and I have him spayed now.So far I have spend about 500.00 dollars on him because twice when he was outside(he is a very mild mannered cat)other cats tend to pick on him on every time he gets bitten he gets an abscess and has to have surgery to have it drained.Has anyone else had this problem and how do I handle it?It`s` getting way to expensive!

First of all I want to tell you Good Job for neutering your out door cat. Believe me, not everybody has that common sense.
To the abcesses... It sounds like you have an expensive Vet. Try looking around and get some prices.
I work in a Vet Clinic for kitties only and we see this all too often. If it continues to get the beating, since he is very nice, I would try to keep him indoors. He can catch leukemia and feline aids from all these fights and that is not cheap.
Hope I could help!

Given everything, I'd say your vet is charging about the normal amount for all that (if Rusty is a "he" you had him neutered not spayed). Having a vet practice is an expensive business and it doesn't sound like he's overcharging. If you want to avoid the abscesses from fighting, make Rusty and indoor cat. But vet bills go with the package when you have a pet.

Are you having them proportion the identical clutter field? You will have to have a field only for the primary kitty and one for the brand new two to proportion, if they're peers. Some folks say you want one field in line with cat. Anyway that's the very first thing i could take a look at. If that's now not serving to, you would take a look at isolating them for awhile, if now not always, which would now not be possible, close them in one-of-a-kind ingredients of the condominium for the night time. Make definite first cat is in his possess "territory" or favourite location to hang around/sleep and his field is in his typical location and that the others do not move there, and close them in one more room with their possess field at night time. As the interlopers, they will have to receive anything house you'll be able to deliver them that does not intrude an excessive amount of with the primary cat's house. These obstacles can difference as they get used to one another, however the first cat demands to think revered, so do what you'll be able to to allow him understand he isn't going to have got to stop the entire condominium to the brand new ones.

Keep your cat inside,
Or if you feel like a cat should be outside, why don't you train it to walk on a leash?
Then you can still take it out (walking him) and keep it inside.
Your problem is solved!

if your cat is like this the best thing and about only thing is to keep the cat as an indoor cat.
From waht you say this is about normal charges and if kept outside it will just keep going up.
Good luck

Well, let's see.. You are letting him outside! Stop doing that! Your cat should be indoors unless you live in a rural area.

I would definitly reccomend getting your pet insurance, it's about 200.00/year and it covers about 90% of your pet's vet costs.

Keeping your pet indoors will also keep your vet bill down.

I feel your pain though, I just dropped 260.00 taking my puppy to the vet.

Keep him inside. That's the only way to prevent any further issues with injuries. It will be hard, but it's a must.
