I mean when I am by myself.

No I have anxiety. I know my parents haven't given me enough attention. But I've talked with them about that. It's much better. But besides my family I am lacking in the socialization department. I just don't want to feel like I need others to be happy when I'm by myself.

Try getting involved with something that is greater than yourself. A just cause such as feeding the hungry, or your church, etc. Once you begin focusing on others instead of yourself you will be amazed at the attention you will get. A very wise man once told me that a lot could be accomplised for the Lord if we didn't care who gets credit for it. The more secular position would be one of true altruism. It's sort of like going beyond yourself. Good luck.

Try finding an avocation ("a hobby, something pursued in addition to one's vocation/job especially for enjoyment"). If you have something to do when you're by yourself, you'll be less likely to feel lonely and neglected. For example, I paint with watercolors, I read (I'm on "Q is for Quarry" in the Sue Grafton detective series), and I experiment with baking.

If all else fails, call a friend or someone you love for a little boost.

I hear your plea. Call centers that will talk to your over the phone for just talking....some centers will turn you away if you are not on the verge of harming yourself or others. Check with state and/or your personal care physician for details.

realize why you want the attention.. did your parents not give you enough attention when you were younger? are you addicted to the way you feel when you get attention? are you one of those loud *** people who try to get attention all the time?
