Andrew Speaker, 31 year old personal injury attorney recently ignored CDC recommendations & flew to Europe to marry after being diagnosed with a rare, treatment resistent TB.
If YOU were on his plane to Canada, ignorung CDC advice to hire a private jet to return to the U.S., what would your opinion be on the following:
Should he pay you pain & suffering for your fear of catching his TB?
Should he pay for your testing to ensure he didn't give you his TB?
If you contract TB, should he pay all your medical expenses?
Was it ok for him to ignore the CDC advice because a private plane would cost him $100,000?
Should a private plane to the U.S. be covered partially by his medical insurance?
Since U.S. airlines had him on a no-fly list, do you believe he didn't know the risk he was putting other people's health at?
Were his wedding & his wants more important than the safety of others?
What are your answers to the questions above?

My personal opinion is that I do not believe
his protestations that he cares about any other human being outside himself. I don't believe he cares. I believe he's lying intentionally because he thinks noone else is as important as he is. I believe he doesn't believe anyone has the right to tell him what to do or not do.
What do you believe?

Old Guy 124, I don't think he flew over there to MEET his wife. I believe she's a US citizen and they just wanted to have their wedding in Greece.

The people on the plane should start a class action against the man. The airlines should be entitled to sue him for the risks that they have made them liable for.
TB untreated is a death sentence, TB that is untreatable means he is possibly guilty of attempted murder. He knowingly traveled in such a way that he avoided precautions that the authorities used to safeguard the public. Thereby he can not claim that it was a mistake.
His medical insurance is not responsible for his flying, if he had gotten sick overseas and required to come back, then the insurance would be on the hook for the flight. He was sick before he went, his choice. His fiancee (now wife ) wasn't sick she could have flown to him and prevented the entire incident.
His personal life is more important than anyone else, if you had fallen between him and his coffee, he wouldn't stop to help you up, just complain about the delay.

I totally agree with you. I feel that he is completely responsible. I watched the Larry king live tonight and it was amazing how his father was there and saying he taped everything. but still they were making no sense. I don't think they understand that TB is very serious even if it isn't contagious or contagious. They shouldn't have traveled, there doctor said I prefer for you not to travel, poor speaker said that doesn't mean not to travel. Amazing this is a lawyer speaking. His wife said i don't have tb, i have been tested and they all came back negative, but they seriously don't understand the extent of what he really has. This person has had this for a long time, and not understanding how he doesn't understand this is serious. 292-400 people are at risk not him. He has help and health care. Many of those individuals don't he should pay for those people. It is amazing. Like the REP's said he only cared about the marriage and also wanted to have his cake too

No it wasn't ok for him to fly. He didn't listen to the doctors who told him not to fly. He didn't take into consideration the well-being of the other passengers on the plane. I feel that he should have to pay for everyone who wants a TB test. He put them all at risk of getting the disease. If he couldn't have afforded a private plane then he should have postponed the wedding and driven to the destination. And no, a private plane should not be a part of his medical insurance. There are other ways of getting places. I believe he did know the risk of what he was doing. The doctors told him he cannot fly because he is highly contagious. His wedding was important to him and getting there is very important, but putting many peoples lives at risk to catching this disease it's just disgusting. In my opinion it's as if he didn't care who he hurt just as long as he got what he wanted. It was a blatant disregard of doctors orders and the no-fly list.

With the mentality of him being a personal injury attorney, he should know all the laws and regulations regarding his matter.
I feel he endangered all the passengers by riding a public plane, and he should be held responsible for any and all incidents that affect the lives of all the other passengers.
And in my opinion he is not the only one at fault either, I would also blame the airlines for allowing him to fly in public airlines. If the airlines are big on security they should be big on health security/safety also.

Obviously, he should not have been on the plane. He should be in quarantine, this is exactly how bird flu was transported around the world. He should be prosecuted in the same way that someone knowingly passing on AIDS would be prosecuted. As for him paying costs, that's probably not practical.

I believe he should pay for everybody to be tested... everyone on the plane including crew, everyone he touched at the counter, in the line to the counter, anyone else's car he rode in... etc...etc...etc.
You better bet this guy doesn't give a hoot about anybody else in this world... INCLUDING his new bride!!!
What an a**!

Personally don't think I would have. Can see with all the arrangements and if, and that is huge if, the warning was as weak as told can see how many would. If someone comes down with it anywhere on his route and it can be genetically linked than hope that guy financial future is dead.
