Yay! Another person who sees sense.
We are well over-due for climate change. We might be helping it along slightly, but it's a perfectly natrual thing to happen!

You know people, we can argue about who farts more or that this concern is "crazy liberal talk." Frankly, I'm getting tired of people arguing about who's fault it is. Yes ANIMALS produce CO2-cows and people are both animals. Why can't everybody just see that there is a problem with pollution and how much trash humans create (look at all the crap in landfills). How can anybody say it is NOT a problem? If we all just focus and can agree that these two things are an issue (and not pointing the finger at the cows or people) then maybe we can do something about it to make a better world for us and our children.
But as a personal side note, I hope there is a big climate shift so it helps clear out all the idiots of the world.

I can beleive it because I know about greenhouse gases, the greenhouse effect, global warming and climate change.

With all due respect, I've yet to come across an intelligent argument on this forum that refutes anthropogenic global warming - and that's despite repeated requests.

Yes the Earth goes through cycles, these are well documented and understood. The Sun also goes through cycles that contrinute to the warming of our planet. Even if every one of these cycles came together at the same time to cause the maximum possible natural warming it would still be nowhere near what we're experiencing at present.

Natural cycles affect the planet over thousands and millions of years, not decades.

1. Maybe that's what you believe. Personally, I don't care.

2. Have you actually gone and done some research? You sound so secure of yourself, but have you taken the time to look around the internet? Maybe read the IPCC's reports? Examined the science? If no, then you're hardly in a position to talk, are you? If your inability to distinguish between climate and weather is any indication of your scientific know-how, then I doubt you really know what you're talking about.

3. Global warming is a fact. No one with an ounce of sense disputes it. Regardless of whether or not humans are responsible (and we are), we are still dependent on non-renewable energy, carrying out unsustainable lifestyles, and will leave an empty shell of a world to our grandchildren. Certainly we're not helping. So, isn't it still worth doing something about it?

Your ignorant opinion is laughable and isn't going to change the fact that global warming IS happening. This is not media hype or liberal propaganda. Do some research. Experts world-wide have been studying this for decades and it's no coincidence that recent climate changes have been DRAMATIC.

EDIT:

Maybe the language I used was a bit belligerent, but I've provided some links with information on this topic:

The consensus of nearly every scientific body studying this topic is that it is "very likely" that human actions are the cause of global warming. The opinion of the organizations is powerful because it is not simply the opinion of one person, but a collective agreement among many.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change

The only dissenting organization is the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and they are in the process of changing their position to acknowledge human influence.
http://dpa.aapg.org/gac/papers/climate_change.cfm

Exxon Mobile also recently cut ties with global warming skeptics.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16593606

Here is also an official statement from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and a recent study by NASA. A wealth of information is provided in these documents along with references to other research papers, if you choose to read these too.
http://ipcc-wg1.ucar.edu/wg1/wg1-report.html
http://www.pnas.org/cgi/reprint/103/39/14288.pdf

Is this enough evidence? If this doesn't sway your opinion, then maybe time will....

I can't believe you think it's a mere climate change.

You know it's much more than that, don't you? It's more than, "Oh, look! It's 100 degrees today!" It's not like we can all change into our swimsuits and sun ourselves on our roofs, as if the world has turned into one great big beach party.

Ocean levels will rise. Fresh water will become increasingly more difficult to come by (as those water bodies will decrease). This means coastal areas will suffer more destruction --- even complete annihilation, and a larger number of people will be desperate for that basic need: fresh water for drinking, bathing, cooking, farming, etc. Crops will fail. Large expanses of land will become unlivable.

Even if, as you ignorantly claim, we're merely undergoing a normal climate change, this drastic change requires SOME preparation, don't you think?

I cant believe people cant believe that
.
go to Mexico,Africa ,India,,look at all the desert places that people created that used to be cool forrests ,compare the climates to now and before when there were trees ,People changed the climate ,what is there not to understand here

In Northen China overgrazing ,overpumping aquifers for irigation and intensive agriculture with fertilizers resulted in two mayor dessert expanding and merging as one
900 vilages were buried under the dust .many thousands of people refugees ,I supose you say this was only a natural phenomina.and the farmers are not responsible ,that is rediculous

,they sure changed the climate there ,The Sahara used to be forests ,until people cut them down .go there now ,people sure changed the climate ,Go to Lebanon ,that used to be forrests until the phoenicians used the trees for their fleet ,to day it is a dessert .how can you NOT BELIEVE THAT.

Spain used to be forested until the Armada used up the wood for the ships
That changed the climate in Spain alright or was it a natural ocurance an act of God??

In Biblical times the middle east was fertile agricultural lands ,now vast teritories are dessert
How can anybody be so dumb as not understand that
that is beyond belief.

In the twenties American farmers turned large parts of America into a dust bowel ,dont try to tell me that this was not a climate change
because of people actions .that the dust was a coincidance and had nothing to do with the straight ploughing.

In Mexico people have frozen in the night and cooked in the day ,some dying ,the changes in climate due to massive deforestation,
Why cant you understand that .

Has everybody in America had a lobotome
dont you peoples brains function anymore .

or are you trying to tell me that all the climate changes are coincidences ,and have nothing to do with deforestation.

That the forrests which absorb heat in the day and release it at night ,are mostly responsible for local climate as well as for rainfall and humidity
or is this a scientific lie?

That rivers run dry in areas that are deforested is also a coincidence?

And you people want to control the world by force ,the elite master race that is gonna govern the globe
Pathetic, this world is lost with you people in charge.

I am going to look for another planet with out Americans

There have been natural weather cycles before. But the scientific data clearly shows that this particular warming is unnatural and mostly caused by us.

The proof is in the scientific literature, in peer reviewed articles in scientific journals. Obviously that can't be posted here.

So instead I'll talk about people who have looked at the proof. If you want to do so, head to the library and look up some of the references in the first two websites below.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of scientists, short and long.

It's (mostly) not the sun:

http://solar-center.stanford.edu/sun-on-earth/FAQ2.html

And the first graph aboves shows that the sun is responsible for about 10% of it. When someone says it's the sun they're saying that thousands of climatologists are stupid and don't look at the solar data. That's ridiculous.

Science is quite good about exposing bad science or hoaxes:

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/ATG/polywater.html

There's a large number of people who agree that it is real and mostly caused by us, who are not liberals, environmentalists, stupid, or conceivably part of a "conspiracy". Just three examples of many:

"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."

Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona

“DuPont believes that action is warranted, not further debate."

Charles O. Holliday, Jr., CEO, DuPont

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/home_page/329.php?nid=&id=&pnt=329&lb=hmpg1

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change

http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686 and:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know - except maybe Newton's second law of dynamics. Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

Over the past 150 years global warming has increased at a fairly steady rate. It is not all due to our current high usage of fossil fuels.
About 50 years ago atmospheric pollution due to coal fires and factories was horrendous - but lets forget about that and increase taxes now eh?

You dismiss it as if it was simply ridiculous well how about I fill you in on some true facts!

The world is warming up. Already 150,000 people are dying every year because of climate change and, within 50 years, one-third of all land-based species could face extinction. If we carry on the way we are now, by 2100 the planet will likely be hotter than it's been at any point in the past two million years.
As we burn up the planet’s coal, oil and gas reserves, and cut down its remaining forests, greenhouse gases are pouring into the atmosphere. The delicate balance of atmospheric gases that sustains life is thickening, trapping more and more heat and irreversibly changing our world.
FACT
For all the technological gloss of the 21st century, the world and the UK are still living in an industrial era, pumping out emissions from coal, oil and gas. Worse, our energy is supplied through a criminally wasteful, centralised energy system; two thirds of all energy generated in UK power stations is lost as waste heat – up the chimney and along transmission lines. But there are clean, affordable and proven solutions for the most polluting sectors: electricity, transport, industry and domestic.
FACT
This massive and rapid change to our climate is like nothing humankind has seen before. As such, the science around it has been cautious and careful in reaching consensus over time. But a strong consensus has finally been reached; the scientific community now agrees that climate change is real, it’s caused by human activity and it’s already happening.
FACT
The 0.6 degree rise we’ve experienced already kills 150,000 people every year. Glaciers, permafrost and sea ice are disappearing. Sea levels are rising, seasons changing and extreme weather becoming more extreme. As temperatures increase further, there will almost inevitably be more flooding, more drought, more disease, more famine and more war, creating hundreds of millions of refugees and causing the destruction of entire ecosystems and species.
FACT
An average temperature rise of around 1.3 degrees centigrade above pre-industrial levels is already inevitable and will bring with it some terrible impacts worldwide. If that figure hits two degrees, many scientists say that not only will the impacts be much greater, but the probability of feedback mechanisms kicking in will be much higher; climate change could spiral completely out of control. Some studies say we have 10 years or less to tackle emissions if we are to stay below that temperature threshold.
The POLITICS
So why do we keep burning fossil fuels? The problem isn't a scientific one but a political one. Despite the rhetoric, political cowardice and industry lobbying are preventing meaningful action. New Labour has overseen a rise in overall carbon emissions and is now set to miss its own emissions targets. And if the UK doesn’t deliver at home, how can it put pressure on other governments internationally?
Carbon emissions don't respect borders and the sad fact is that the world's most vulnerable people are the ones that are suffering most from its impacts. With countries like China and India in the middle of their own industrial revolutions, it's clear we need a global framework and global cooperation to address the problem. The Kyoto Protocol is a crucial first step but far, far more needs to be done!

While the government claims to care about the climate, in practice it has bowed to the demands of big business. The government has fallen for the nuclear industry's spin and decided that the UK needs 10 new nuclear power stations. Nuclear power can't stop climate change or ensure energy security. We need to start reducing emissions within a decade to avoid catastrophic climate change; the first new nuclear power stations won't produce a watt of energy before 2018.
It is imperative we make the world a better place for our children and your children’s future, to bring hope for our grand children and generations to come. The world is a delicately balanced ecosystem that needs tender care, justice and a voice of reason.
People within Government with Influence need to change the world’s bad policies into good promising futures for us all, the diversity of the planet and everything living depends on it.
For with out theses changes how are we to survive? We can no longer ignore the problem for it will not go away.
Ask yourself do you want to be part of the problem or do you want to make a mark in this beautiful world for something sustainable and good? For the future of mankind may depend on the desicions you make today for a brighter tomorrow...
We're the last generation that can stop this global catastrophe and thats also a FACT!

YOu can laugh and shrug it off all you want but can you honestly look your kids in the eye knowing what will face them in the future from all the Eco problems our generations caused...think about it!

I totally agree w/ u!
This is just the opposite of an ice age.. its just a cycle the earth is going through and plus .. we can't go to the past and be like:
" OMG LOOK AT THOSE MAMMOTHS HARMING THE EARTH! "
.. thats how i feel..
:D although we are making everything worse w/ our needs in a way and making everything come sooner and faster..

BUT still... its wrong
