Neither is right or good. Taxing the wealthy more so they have less to spend and less to give to the poor, actually hurts the poor. It also hurts the charities because the rich may write a $20,000 check to them. Even if the rich do this solely for the tax breaks, and not out of the goodness of their hearts. The money *still* goes to the poor, and they still get the help they need. Taxing the poor is stupid, they simply don't have the money to support Obama's tax and spend programs. Many of the working poor are trying to support families and even go to school. Let's put this back on Washington. Both sides need to come up with a budget plan for not spending money we don't have, as America is carrying over 100 trillion in unfunded debt. Blame all politicians on all sides for this. But punishing the wealthy for their success, and making the rest pay for Washington's mistakes is not the answer. We should start punishing the law makers, because they're a big part of why we're in this mess. They have given the USA a hostile business climate, and made it easier for foreign companies to set up shop, while screwing American ones.

The rich get richer because they have enough money to take a risk in the stock market. The poor can't, and those lose that ability. Also, taxes are one-sided, and the rich can pretty much pay their taxes with the interest they get on their money. The poor have to pay with everything they have.

Look hero, the wealthiest 1 percent pay 90 percent of the countries taxes. I am in a much higher tax bracket and even with the deductions each month, when April comes around, I still have to PAY over 15,000 dollars. Don't whine and blame me because I chose to get an education and a good paying job. I still pay a **** ton more in taxes a year than you do in ten. Stop sniveling and work to make more money. If you want lower taxes, vote republican......the dems just want your money to pay for all the programs for the people that don't want to work in the first place.

Actually, the rich pay more in taxes than the poor.

At $46,800 a year, you and your wife aren't rich, but certainly aren't poor. Be careful what you wish for - politicians making the laws could well lump you in with "rich".
