She should do 2 things.
1. Never go to that artist again. No reputable artist tattoos over a mole.
2. Go to the doctor, and have the mole looked at. It would be a good idea at this point to have it removes, since irritation tends to increase the chances of the mole becoming cancerous. But more importantly than anything, a doctor has to look at it.

Go see a dermatologist ASAP. Moles can turn into skin cancer and even when a piece of a mole is removed BY a DERMATOLOGIST for biopsy (checking to see if it's cancerous), there is a chance that cutting the skin can in turn spread the cancerous cells to the healthy skin. This unpleasant sensation she's getting on the mole doesn't mean she has cancer, but she should seriously have it looked at to be sure. The tattoo artist should NOT have done this.

I agree, a good tattoo artist, should have never tattooed over a mole. She needs to go see a dermatologist as soon as she can. You should never, ever alter a mole!!!

Good (read professional) tattoo artists shouldn't have done this and are instructed to avoid it. The potential for cell changes in moles makes this a bad idea. Your friend needs to consult their Dr. now.

She needs to see a dermatologist. You should never mess w/ a mole, never get a tatoo over it, never try to remove it yourself, & always see a doctor if it becomes deeply scratched or injured.

initially, you should try disinfecting it with rubbing alcohol or hydroperoxide so that you don't get infections.
put on some neosporin and a band aid over it.
or also, try cold aloe vera gel you can buy at the supermarket or any drug stores....it should relieve some itch and cure faster, naturally.
thumbs up!
