This is the first place your body targets when you are dehydrated. Drink lots of water! I recommend purified water and mineral water mixed 50/50. The mineral water is going to put back into the muscles what they are losing on a daily basis.
I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body. One tip for athletes: it is healthier to drink a sports drink or water than fruit juice, soda, coffee, or milk during competition or active training periods.
In the evening take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts and soak for 30 minutes. Afterwards , if you have something shaped like a cylinder and made out of hard material (think of a large rolling pin you would use for pizza dough or something) place it under your leg and push down and roll it back and forth...this should massage the spasms out of your leg. It will hurt while you're doing it, but more so the type of pain that actually feels good, in the long run.
Also take 500mg of calcium and magnesium in the evening. This will help with the muscle spasms.

First step - go to the doctor. There could be serious problems with blood circulation or nerve damage. Purple toes are not normal
Second step - listen to all the answers above me. They are all good guesses, but since we can't actually see your purple toes, go show the doctor.
My guess - eat more bananas. you are low on potassium (vit. K)
Don't forget - go to the doctor.

During my first pregnancy, I would get leg cramps really bad and my doctor indicated that I needed additional calcium. He prescribe calcium supplements since calcium is in the blood and helps to transport oxygen to your muscles and when there is insufficient calcium you will get leg cramps. Within three days after starting the calcium supplements, no more leg cramps.

Yes you can. My sister has them too and the doctor told her to walk. Try to walk as much as you can, especially when you have the pain. Also if you can find someone who can give you massage in your legs will make wonders. Good Luck!

Ask your doctor for a prescription for quinine. Take one capsule and maybe another in six months when they start again, or next year. If you doubt it, ask your pharmacist. They used to be over-the-counter but for some reason changed it.
