there were two public records on my CR that did not belong to me. at the time my score was 542. i made a dispute with equifax and i was notified they were deleted. after both judgements were deleted my score went up to 551??? so it basically increased 9 points? i thought these things had huge impacts on peoples credit?...should i dispute the increase with them? could it be an error or something? please help someone. Thanks.

Did you have any other public records or collection items. If so, that could be the reason. You get dinged very hard for the first one and then only a little for any additional ones. If you still have one showing then you are getting hit big for it.

Also, do you have any recent 60 or 90 day late payments. If so, you won't see a substantial increase until you get those in line and pay them on time for a few months. Recent charge-offs and repo's will also keep your score low.

Keep working on it and keep paying your current bills on time and you will see an improvement. It just takes some time.

Good Luck

It does but it is over time. the credit score is a picture of many things combined and a nine point increase in a month is better than none. That is only one part of the big picture, are your bills being paid on time? Are your credit cards less than 30% of the maximum, if not then there are still things you need to work on.

When you're trying to rebuild your credit score it's important to get a comprehensive view of what is actually effecting it...

Your Credit Score is calculated with the following breakdown:
35 - Payment History
30 - Credit to Debt Ratio
15 - Credit History
10 - New Credit
10 - Credit Types in Use

If you excel in one area and lack in another, only fixing the areas which you lack are going to improve your score.
