I am Muslim, I have no idea what a "modernist" Muslim is. If you want to convert, you can go to any mosque. Please research this a little more so you know what you are doing. Only convert if you know this is what you truly want. Best wishes.

I am Muslim and this is the first time I have heard that term "modernist" applied to Muslims.
As far as becoming a Muslim, you can do so in your own home. It is something between you and Allah, and not a step to be taken lightly. You don't just do it to please your fiancee.
Basically, after searching your soul and what you believe about GOD, you can say shahadah at home then take a shower.
I suggest you go to an Islamic center or masjid if you do not have a mosque close to where you are living. It would be wise to talk to an imam about what you would like to do and why.
Insha Allah, you will become a submitter to GOD for the right reasons and in full knowledge of what you are choosing to do.
Maybe you can explain what you mean by modernist Muslim.

All mosques are the same. Let know where you live. Maybe u wanted to say Moderate. But it could be a person, not a mosque. Be sure where you go, the molana/priest is an educated one. You guys need an educated person, preferably who is also converted Muslim. You will be more at ease with him.
Good luck.

the version is , whilst a Catholic is going right into a Protestant church, they could study from a distinctive Bible, hence distinctive verses. And whilst the two the Catholic and the Protestant pass to the JW's church, back it can be a distinctive verses from yet another Bible.Even interior the comparable state. yet in Islam, whichever mosque, everybody enters into, they could in elementary terms study verses from the only , and the comparable Quran in Arabic, whether the mosque occurs to be in a distinctive u . s . like China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Nepal and so on. besides the incontrovertible fact that, counting on the faculties of strategies the standard public follows, like Hanbali, Maliki, Hanafi, and Shafie, which denotes point of understanding, like Orthodox, Conservative, Liberal, average and so on, particular practices ought to variety culturally. yet one shouldn't take those alterations in faculties of strategies to point 'sects' in Islam. fairly, must be taken as a healthful sign that means Muslims do no longer blindly save on with what they have been advised, yet reason and learn issues carefully earlier putting them to coach. and Allah is familiar with terrific.

Conversion needs just two witnesses. May or may not be in a mosque. It is so natural and easy to become a Muslim. Primarily, it is between you and Allah, while the Angels are recording the witnessing, and two humans are there too, to greet, afterwards.

I'm a Sufi (Mystical Islam).
I'm in agreement with Terry G.............
I have had the same Sheik for 27 years.
Look for a Sheik, that is full of "Wisdom".
I've been most fortunate to have a Qutb for my Sheik.
In sha' Allah

Look up Sufis, but examine carefully before you leap into something that you could be murdered for leaving. Don't join a religion because your girlfriend has the label, but because you believe it.
