WOW! You got many different responses!
My suggestion to you is to pray about it. Ask God show you the truth and patiently wait for Him to answer. If He is real, He will show Himself to you, and you will know.
God says this:
"Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:12-13)
Try it and see. I will be praying for you.
God Bless

Why do you want a religion at all. Nobody knows who or what created the universe or set the conditions in which life would start and evolve. Lots of religious leaders will tell you they do but none of them really know. The best thing is to get on with your life do what you wish to do but do your best not to harm anybody. Certainly celebrate Christmas because it is a very old pagan feast were they ate up all the food that would not last the winter and Easter of course is the again a pagan celebration of life being reborn for the coming year. It is actually taken from the Roman religion of Mythras. Remembrance day is good as it does remember some very brave people who gave their lives for us.
Personally I want nothing from any religion because I think they are all just power trips for priests.

I was born in a Muslim family then went away from religion for a while. I was not very religious for at least 2-3 years of my life...During that time I read the bible and other religious books.. But Quran made the most sense to me So now I try to be the best Muslim I can be...
I think you have some reading to do.. I would suggest you make a list of all the things you want from a religion and then read some main religions like Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, and other religions and pick the one that makes most sense to you.... We can't tell you which religion is your calling..

Wow, what a question! Like you my parents pretty much didn't raise me with much religion, but when asked we always said we were Christian and celebrated Christmas and Easter (although the focus on both was Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny, presents and chocolate).
When I got to highschool started to feel that I needed a stronger faith but I was confused since there are so many religions and I didn't know where to begin. For awhile I went to a Baptist Church 3 times a week and even went "soul winning" on Saturdays! Leading people to Jesus. I read about Wicca even at one point, Buddhism, etc.
It wasn't until I moved to Egypt after University that I was faced with Islam...and it wasn't until 5 years after that I reverted to Islam Al Humdu'Allah.
Why did I choose to follow Islam and to become a Muslim? For me it felt right. The hadith's of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and the Quran touch my heart and make sense to me. I finally didn't feel so lost once I truly accepted Islam. I took my time, there really is no hurry and it is OK to take small steps towards faith. Eventually I realized it is not what others tell you to believe, but what you believe in your heart. It is best to not allow yourself to become overwhelmed, and to remember that everyone deserves respect regardless of what you believe. Don't allow media or closed minded people turn you away from what you feel is right. In my heart I would be so happy if you were guided towards Islam, but as a Muslim we are also taught that everyone deserves to make that choice on which direction they will follow. Insha'allah you will find your way.

Why would you want to join a religion anyways.
Especially if you don't even know what there is to gain from being in a religion.
Religion is there for to help people have a relationship with God, but for Godsake don't go near any of them, you'll end up so far from God you won't know what hit you.
If you want a relationship with God, here's all you need to know;-
God is Love
You are the temple of God
Fear is the absence of Love(God)
If you want to commune with God, look into your heart, give and show Love, for when your heart is filled with love, your heart is filled with God.
ps: Make sure you fully understand what LOVE is, becuase I don't mean Human Love that turns one into a slave and a prisoner, but that LOVE which is truth and the highest vibrations of all.
Find out what Love truly is, becuase when you find it, you've found God. You don't need religion.

Realize that religious ideas are not necessarily true just because someone says they are, or a book says they are.
Most of the major religions are successful because they have highly refined systems for entraping young minds into superstitious belief.

Join a religion? How is that possible? How do you join a religion?
As for the choice you speak of, there is only one choice. You either choose to believe in God or you don't. Your Parents and Society has nothing to do with it. The choice comes from within you.
Peace Be With You

I suppose for me it was about the answers I got to the questions I had....did "my God of choice" answer them in a way that left me contented and at peace...or with conflicting feelings and more questions? If you still have unanswered questions or ones that arent answered to your satisfaction by this religion or that....then move on till you find what your looking for.

From my own personal experience only I can say that I also was not brought up in any faith but christianity was the only one I really knew, and then not much! It wasn't until Jesus revealed Himself to me that I finally understood. Pray to God that He will do the same for you. It's good to seek! I am not ignorant of the beliefs of others but could not deny the reality of Jesus, having met him.

They all believe in a God basically so just pray to God and ask him to show you. I personally would think I would choose the one that led to eternal life because no matter the religion -- everyone dies.

From religion, I want to feel closer to Divinity.
I think you should sit down for a while and decide what you think is true in your heart, if it's Christianity, that's fine, if it's something else that's fine too, as long as you are being true to yourself and your own personal beliefs, not what someone else tells you.
