How much money is taken from your paycheck in taxes? I know it's different in different states and depends on what you put on your tax forms for allowances, but I'm trying to figure out what my take home pay will be for a job that pays 10 an hour, working 20 hours a week. Thanks.

Just check this paycheck calculator---put it the state where you live, how much you make, and what your filing status is, and it will tell you exactly how much your take home pay will be...http://www.paycheckcity.com/netpaycalc/netpaycalculator.asp

State taxes and non-tax deductions (such as insurance) are ignored by this answer. SS and medicare are 7.65%. At $200/wk that is $15.30. Assuming you are single and not a dependent, your taxable income using the standard deduction is $1950/yr or $37.20/wk In the 10% bracket that is $3.72/wk tax.
That leaves $180.98 take home before state and non-tax deductions.

It depends on what you claim on dependents and what you state taxes are. It could be any where from 140 to 180 net. With gas prices the way they are and if you live too far away this job may not even be worth it.

It typically hovers around 18% for both state and federal taxes.

If you're working 20 hours / week you should make about:

10.00 x .18 = 8.20/hour x 20 hours/week = 164.00/week.
