A householder who attacks a minister without warning (such as by siccing a dog or spraying with mace) almost certainly commits assault. In most localities, it is almost certain that an assaulted Jehovah's Witness would press charges with law enforcement and/or seek a civil judgment against the criminal householder. Most district attorneys are quite enthusiastic about prosecuting "hate crimes" such as those motivated by religious intolerance.

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

if you really don't want to be bothered, tell the Jehovah Witnesses who come to your door, to put your name on the do not call list, then they will not come to your door for two years, or call the kingdom hall and ask to speak to an elder and tell them to put your name and address on the do not call list. if you have your dog bite us, we can call the cops and have your dog put down for harming us. many of us come to the door with our children and would not like to be harmed either. we are not soliciting. soliciting is selling. our watchtower, awakes and books are free. if they don't listen, please call the kingdom hall

You asked the question 'why do Jehovah's Witnesses come to your door'. If you honestly want to know the real answer to that question, go to the following link and click on the link titled, "The good news they want you to hear."

It explains why Jehovah's Witnesses spend their valuable time coming to your door.

BooBoo, you must learn to be magnanimous.
They do not wish to 'shove their beliefs' down your throat.
Their attitude is:
They have learned something and would like to share it with you.
If you are close-minded and don't want to hear ....use humor.
Most of them have a sense of humor.

Just print up a sign and hang it in the window that says; Hawkers of religion will be shot on sight, especially Jehovahs Witnesses.

I've copied this from a witnessing site
Gives you an idea of what's inside their heads
sad but true

God wants you to witness because of the benefits He offers to those who receive Christ:

They become children of God.
Their bodies become temples of God.
All of their sins are forgiven.
They begin to experience the peace and love of God.
They receive God's direction and purpose for their lives.
They experience the power of God to change their lives.
They have assurance of eternal life.
God also wants you to witness because of the benefits you will receive.
Witnessing will stimulate your spiritual growth, lead you to pray and study God's Word, and encourage you to depend on Christ. You will experience the tremendous privilege and honor of representing Jesus to the world (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Put a No Soliciting sign on your door. If they come again, call the police. They are in violation of the law.

If you wish to go to jail, then be my guest.
Otherwise, just stop answering the door if you cannot act adult enough to just say "No thank you, I am not interested."

Ask them to put you on the "do not call list."

But I'm just curious. Have you ever wondered why we do call?

Don't spray them with mace.

If you don't want them to come back, just show them some false prophecies they have made over the years. Odds are they will not come back.
