Why do so many Christians eat Pork meat when God clearly says not to eat the Swine's flesh. Jews and Muslims as well as certain other religions uphold this biblical prohibition.

Why are Christians disobedient in this regard toward God's dietary Laws concerning Clean and unclean meats.

Leviticus 11: 7-8
Deuteronomy 14:6-8
Isaiah 66:17

Don't use the lame excuse that these laws do not apply to New Covenant Christians. Christians throughout the New Testament did not eat unclean foods. Jesus, Disciples, Apostles and Jews did not eat Pork meat.

Wow! I can't believe most of your answers so far. It is so said to see so many using Bible text as their backup for eating pork. However, most of them are just on one misinterpretation after another.
The Bible does say that our bodies are the temple of God. The book of Revelation says that nothing will enter heaven that will defile. Isaiah 66:15-17 says, "For, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many. They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord."

It is true that the law of Moses was nailed to the cross. The law of Moses are all the cerimonial laws that the Jews had to follow including but not limited to sacrifices, circimsicion, and so on. Leviticus 11 tells us which meats we should not eat and which are ok to eat. They are not a cerimonial law. Also the above verses that I mentioned have nothing do to with Moses law and yet there God tells us if we eat the swine we will be consumed.

One of your answeres brought up Peter's vision. It's amazing how so many people misinterpret this vision. The Bible always interprets itself. If he only read a few verses further he would have discovered what that vision actually meant. I am going to summerize the vision in Acts 10:9-17 as it is very long. Peter sees in this vision many unclean animals coming down on a vessel. The Lord tells him to rise, kill, and eat. He responds that he has never eaten anything uncommon or unclean. God says what he has cleansed you shall not call unclean. Most people stop here and then form their own interpretation of the vision.

Notice that this was a vision, and not an actual occurance. Peter did not literally eat these unclean animals. He merely saw them in vision. In verse 17 Peter did not understand the vision. One thing he did know, and that was that it did not mean that it was all right to eat the unclean meats. In the days when the early church was just beginning, most of the converts to Christianity were from Judaism. At first, there was no thought that the gospel message must also go to people of other nations. The Jews regarded anyone who was not a Jew as cermonially unclean. They felt that such people had no right to have the gospel brought to them. The early Christians still had these same ideas.

However, God did not want the Christian Church to be restrictive. He did not want them to think that salvation was only for the Jews, that all other were unclean, and therefore could not have the gospel of salvation brought to them. So God chose to give Peter a vision to teach people the great lesson that no person, neither Jew nor Gentile, should be considered unclean. The force of the vision comes clear in verse 28.

"And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company or come unto one of another nation: but God hath shewed me that I should not call ANY MAN COMMON OR UNCLEAN." They were not to call any man common or unclean. God wasnt' talking about food at all when He gave the vision to Peter. He was talking about the Jewish practice of calling anyone of another nation unclean. This is the Biblical interpretation of the vision.
Any other interpretation stands in direct contradiction to a plainly interpreted passage of Scripture. To attempt to apply this text to the unclean foods is a great misuse of Scripture and certainly reveals the flimsy evidence that there is for attempting to justify the use of unclean foods today.

True followers of Christ should not be eating pork or another unclean animal. It is sad to see so many deceived.

It is not what goes into a person's mouth that makes them unclean, it is what comes out of their mouths.

Do you also believe that you are unclean if you touch a menstruating woman and that she should be kept in a tent in the back yard while she has her period? Why pick and chose the laws you want to follow or beat people over the head with?

How do you know the apostles never ate pork? Were you there?

Christians have been taught they are free from the law, unfortunately they decided to pick and choose what laws they are free from. THe word does not say that we are free from the law, but free from the law of sin and death. We are free from the penalty, IF we love the Lord and trust in Him and follow Jesus. Jesus walked the law perfectly- God's laws are not arbitrary and for no rhyme or reason and the law, from the beginning was never meant to save- even those who lived before Jesus knew that- they looked forward to the cross as we look back. We follow the law because we are saved, not in order to be saved, we follow the law because we love the Lord- He said, I have not come to remove the law and if you love me you will follow my commands.
God created our bodies and He alone is the ultimate authority on what should and should not go into them. Pork is poisonous to the human body and was never meant for food. No one is going to go to hell on the basis of having eaten pork, but it is nothing more than rebellion to say that I don't have to follow God's commands because they are for the Jews (a big lie taught by the church) or because Jesus did away with it. The only thing Jesus did away with is the curse of sin and death, not God's order and perfect instruction for living a set apart , clean and sanctified life. He said, be holy as I am holy- we cannot do that if we are not set apart from the world. Disease and sickness reign in this world because man has refused God's perfect instruction for health and order.

I hate to tell you this Christians of this modern day, but if you are convinced that we no longer live under the law, then who of you eating pork, abandoning the Sabbath and feasts of God, picking and choosing the laws that you desire to follow has any right to point the finger at a church member who does not tithe? or at anyone in a homosexual relationship? or one who drinks wine? Not one that believes that we are free from the law has any right to impose ANY law on anyone else - period

Dirty? Pigs are one of the cleanest animal in a farm. They took a bath twice a day - morning and night. Cows and Chicken can have worms inside their body also not only pigs and even humans. They eat only feed pellets that are made in a clean ISO certified feeds company. How about your cows? Does the grass their eating have an ISO certification? Though we can say that pork is not a healthy food, esp the fats - it is ok in moderation. EDIT: Sorry for that one. I really do. There are some pig farms that have sprayers/showers to keep them cool. Pigs have high temperature so they need water to cool them down. One example of it is ours.

You are correct that Jesus and his disciples did not eat pork.
That's because the Jewish system was still in effect.
Have you ever read Acts 10:10-15?
God was trying to teach Peter a lesson.
It says:
"Peter beheld some sort of vessel descending like a great linen sheet being let down and in it there were all sorts of four-footed creatures and creeping things of the earth and birds of heaven.  And a voice came to him: “Rise, Peter, slaughter and eat!”
But Peter said: “Not at all, Lord, because never have I eaten anything defiled and unclean.”
And the voice spoke to him: "Stop calling defiled the things God has cleansed. . ."

Hey, if you don't like pork, don't eat it. I love pork. Bacon, pork chops, pork rinds, ham, oh, boy. My God (you know, the Father of Jesus), told me in His Word I could eat anything. I have read the Bible and believe it. He told me not to call anything He calls clean, unclean. So I obey His Word. For those who want to live by the Law and disobey God, let them. UMMM, Pork chops.

okay, read the Old Testament, Yahweh.clearly stated that the earth, al the plants and animals are for mans consumption!

and why wouldn't Christians be disobedient against things in the bible not in their best interests? the Gospels also instruct Christian women to wear veils over their hair or cut their hair short like men, I only see Muslims wearing veils as Christians blatantly defy the bible and what about plucking out one's eye? if Christians were truly obedient, eye plucking out services would be just as popular as viagra is today.

There are a great many biblical injunctions that nobody holds to anymore:

keeping slaves (Leviticus 25:44)
selling your children (Exodus 21:7)
stoning idolators (Deuteronomy 13:6)

so, if we can pick and choose our biblical injunctions, why not pork eating as well? Or are you also in favor of keeping slaves, selling your children and stoning idolators?

Humans wrapped up in rules might. Can't say what God will do, but I'll take my chances. Give me that pork sausage, I need to get fueled up for my shift at the food bank.
