I'm glad you asked this. I'm an avid believer of Lexapro, since being on it for about 6 months. I'm now able to manage my life alot better. Prior, it was getting very bad. 40mg. is the highest dose my doctor said. I range between 30 and 40 mg. per day. 5 random days are good, and a couple seem like it's not working. It has no real side effects. If you're a guy, and I am, it has one that I won't mention. It involves being with a female. Enough said. I think it's still fantastic. People within my circle have commented on how much better I am to be around. I don't know what else to add, unless you would have any specific questions regarding it.

I've been on it since last August and the people in my life say the change is just terrific. My riotous thoughts, usually sad or anxious, slowed down and I found I could actually think about a situation instead knee-jerk reaction to it. The crying, the why me attitude, the rage against life feelings went away. I had the sleepy sensation, the nausea and the weight gain (not much) but it wore off in a month. Just lately, the doc changed me to Celexa, but I didn't react well. Cried all the time, was unmotivated, and slept a lot. I demanded to go back to Lexapro and I'm improving again. I love the medicine. It did wonders for me.

Have been taking Lexapro for almost 6 months now and have only had good experiences with it. Someone warned me that I would gain weight. I had already been on a weight loss regimen and have continued to lose weight on a regular basis. I feel much calmer and have cut way back on road rage. I still yell-but I stay inside the car. My daughter sees that as progress. One very important thing is, I'm sleeping 7 hours every night. That is a major change and I really needed it. Hope things work out well for you.

As you can see, several people have had good reactions to Lexapro. I did not. I only took it for nine days because it increased my anxiety to the point where I could hardly leave my bed, let alone my dorm room, which was highly inconvenient since it was the week of midterms. The elevated anxiety also caused the SI to increase a lot. Long story short, it's not for everyone, but the only way to know if it's right for you is to try it for a couple months.

I took it for a day when I got some samples and I felt like it I was on the verge of a major LSD trip all day. I have done LSD more than a few times and know what its like. I am staying away from Lexapro from now on.

I take the 20 mg.
The only problems I've had with it is an increase in short-term memory loss. Although that kinda sucks, the good effects outweigh it as I no longer have high anxiety problems.

Lexapro made me very lethargic and sometimes I felt very "dull" while trying to think. I didn't end up taking it for very long.

I just started it and have been feeling MORE irratable and angry, but they do say that it is one of those drugs that has to build up in your system before you feel any effects. If you're serious about it stay with it for at least 2 months and keep you doctor updated on any wierd feelings or mood changes.

Personally I hated it! It takes a few weeks to adjust and to get adjusted but for me it made me lazy and I just didn't want to function at all. I have 3 kids and I couldn't be that way. I have decided to deal with my depression episodes. Good luck, I do know it works for some people just not for me.
