Because global socio-political winds in Europe bring out short-sighted and racist politicians in Office who, in turn, terrorize their own people by a ghost of "Turkey membership to EU" so that that they could exploit the fears of their own people...

This is the 3rd World War going on in the world.

After the WW2 Turkey took its place in European Parliament and in NATO (the Western side) rightfully as the Europeans came to their senses after the war.

When the WW3 is over (I reckon it's gonna end towards 2016 or so) Europeans will hopefully elect "rational and witty" politicians and open up their gates for Turkey.

Turkey is not included in the EU for several reasons, typical or sociopolitical.

Typically, Turkey has to meet certain political and economic criteria deriving from her interim agreements with the EU. These are the so called Copenhagen criteria. Despite Turkey's steps towards fulfilling these obligations, she still has a long way to go, especially on issues such as protection of human rights and civil liberties.

But bare in mind that many Europeans resent the idea of 70 million Turks, mostly muslims, underdeveloped and illiterate, joining the EU and having equal rights (and votes) at the decision making institutions of the Union. In other words, if Turky ever becomes a full member of the EU, there will be unknown shifts in Europe's power balances. Not to mention the fears and concerns that the prospect of cheap turkish workers rises to millions of EU citizens.

Turkey's attempt to circulate into the union isn't something extra effective than a self humiliation. traditionally and culturally Turkey isn't eu, relatively Turks have been a extreme hazard for Europe for hundreds of years, for this reason i think of they gained't be admitted.

Well considering the European Union branches out very slowly from the heart of Europe, I would say Turkey has a few years to go before the EU reaches it. In fact, Serbia is having talks about joining the EU, which is 300-500 miles away from Turkey. If Serbia joins the EU, then Turkey will then go under consideration about being part of the EU.
I do think that if Turkey were to become part of the EU, I believe that most of the middle east countries should also become apart of the EU.

Reason? Centuries old prejudices and slander STILL fed into young minds at schools in some places and into adult minds by media almost everywhere in EU.

From the moment EU bureaucrats started negotiations with Turkey a few years back, the media started playing on all the deeply buried fears and prejudices of the population, which are unfair, unjust and downright ugly. If EU cannot uphold "universal" values, if EU will "localize" negotiations and ask for the shirt on our backs, when smaller, weaker, more corrupt countries are admitted, I don't want to be a part of that union.

EU had looked like the champion of universal values, but not now. That was what made EU something. You can find economic relations everywhere you go in a global world. I'd rather sit at home and drink my tea than be EU'S black sheep.

2Entrance to EU means that all little jobs close
3 Too many taxes
4 Better laws and human rights
5 stable coin
6 Raise to unemployment
I think for Greece it was positive, but it was years ago

Because most of the people are muslims. That's the reason. The rest of the reasons are european trash. Most of the Turks don't want the country to enter the union. It's just politics.

from a geographical point of view most of turkish territory is in Asia and just a little is actually in Europe.
another thing would be that the European Union is asking Turkey to recognize their massacre against Armenians as a condition for integrating the EU. Turkey has refused this. There must be also other reasons that go along.

I agree with Tolia... It sounds heretic, but in fact it is not. Greeks and Turks are the heirs of the civilisation of two Empires (The Bysantine and the Ottoman) and they share they same customs, habits, culture... Language is not a problem, Switzerland is three-lingual... Nor religion, if we limit priests of both sides to their heavelny duties...
I just wish politicians had the same wit and mentality that we, guys, have in here...

P.S. 1 ) Since an answerer has made referrence to the recognition of genocides, I strogly believe that this is just an hypocricy... Why doesn't Europe recognize the gratest of all genocides ever, that of the pre-Colombian inhabitants of America, who have been slaughtered by the Spanish?

P.S. 2) If there is a territorial excuse, why E.U. considers, at leat pollitically, Israel as part of Europe and not Turkey which extends partly to Europe? That's hypocricy too...

In order to be in the European Union, there are certain standards that you have to follow. For one, you have to have an excellent economy in order to join. Once you're qualified, you then have to be on a sort of waiting list with other countries who are applying to be in the Union. Currently, Turkey has met these qualifications, but they are on this "waiting list" for now.
