How long did the relationship last? If it was serious, he might need some time to accept what has happened and adjust to single life before he can move on with someone else.
Did he break up with his ex or did she break up with him? If he was the bearer of bad news, it could be that he is already on his way to getting over her. However, if she broke up with him and he didn't see it coming, he is probably crushed.
It's never good to date someone who is fresh out of a previous relationship because chances are, you will be their rebound girl.
For example...
A few years ago I dated a guy who's girlfriend had just broken up with him. He seemed like he was over his ex but little did I know she would sabotage our relationship. I begged him not to leave me for her because I really liked him but love conquers all and in the end he chose her over me.

Texting lets you control the tone and establish what kind of conversation you want to have. Learn here https://tr.im/bKEMp
This is probably the most important part. With texting, you can stop and think about what you want to say to your ex at each step of the way. Instead of reacting emotionally, you can take your time, figure out the right thing to say (I’ll give you most of it), and be strategic with your ex without saying something that you’ll regret.

everyone is different as it is with the circumstances of the breakup. But, i would generally say it just depends on how much he cared for the girl. If he loved her, he will probably always have a place in his heart for her. If it was just a fling then i would say not much time at all!

It depends on how serious their relationship was. If that is the case it may take awhile for him to get over her especially if they hang out in the same circles. If he left because his heart was not really into it it may not take any time at all for him to move on. However, both cases may leave him wanting to be single for awhile.

Depends on the person, I would say minimum 6 months, but I have known guys with other issues that it took several years.

For me personally, it only takes me a couple of months to completely get over a break up (if it's someone I love.)
If I didn't love them, then it only takes about 5 minutes to get over them.
I recover very fast because I know life is too short to dwell on people who don't deserve you.

Depends entirely on the guy, the strength and quality of the relationship with the ex, the communication (if any) that they have had since, how and why the breakup occurred...tell us more...

It depends on the guy and it depends on how much he cared about the girl you can't put a timestamp on 1 particular guy because they all deal with things in different ways.
