If you want to risk your ipod. Dont worry, it wont physically damage it, but you may have to wipe it. Limewire is perhaps the largest source for virus writers to distro their work. They know that limewire users are very naieve and dont know much about computers.
Most files you can instal, but many you will not be able to play because of apples Digital rights management process.
Also be aware, that there are criminal penalties as well as civil penalties for using intellectual property without a license.

Most of them u can, for some u might have to install new software if they are not windows media.
