On my last couple questions, people keep acting like I'm being ridiculous to complain about dirty jokes made about Jesus. Well, I thought I would show you what I was talking about. It's stuff like this:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AozQIeJSH7OjW9d0YmVoR2Hd7BR.?qid=20070603130608AAX6AzN

This is wrong. There are kids here. How can you defend this kind of stuff as "free speech"?

What if I said that about this person's father? Is that also free speech? Can I just say any sick retarded, offensive crap I want, and chalk it up to free speech?

I had some respect for Atheists, but I am losing respect for the ones who will defend such garbage. (not all of them of course)

Aria - I didn't read the details until I asked this question - and only went to the question so I could get the link to post it.

I think it's silly to get upset about it.

If Yahoo has a policy against such explicit details, then I'm sure it will be taken off soon.

But otherwise, the claim is so absurd and so over the top that I think it is being ridiculous to worry about it.

(And really, do you think Jesus cares? They crucified Him, and He was still forgiving people. A little off-colored satire shouldn't be a problem for Him.)

Yes, that's a disgusting question. A very disgusting question.

It's being asked by a level 1 user, with 68 points. Which means he made a troll account to ask such offensive questions.

There are a few other things disgusting about this whole thing:

-You assuming it being asked by an atheist. I fail to see why this user would be an atheist. I don't believe in any gods, why should I have dreams about them? What makes you think this user isn't a Muslim, or a Pagan, or a Buddhist, or a Christian, or a Jainist, or whatever?

-You giving this troll the attention he's looking for is even more disgusting. If you're really concerned about kids being on this site, you should do as many do: ignore and/or report. That's the only way to make attention-seeking trolls go away.

Your obsession with calling everything you find disgusting "atheism" truly offends me. Please look at the facts, before you accuse a group.

What I find interesting is that some people are blaming you for having read this, and parents for not monitoring every second of their children's on-line use, which we all know is impossible once they reach a certain age. Mine are 22, 15, and 12. I can't-- and shouldn't-- be there every second of everyday. That's not healthy. Allowing them to grow up is.

That said, I agree with you that posts like this have no place here. It's offensive not only to kids but to adults as well. Just because we have the right to free speech doesn't always mean that we should use it. As Ben Parker (Spider-man's uncle) would say, "With great power comes great responsibility." Meaning, we have the power to do the right thing. When given our freedoms we were trusted to police ourselves. Whoever submitted that post is wallowing in immaturity.

I agree with several who have already made this point -- if you find this question to be in violation of the community guidelines, you should report it. The last thing that you should be doing is developing an entirely new question centered around something that is obviously disrespectful and in bad taste.

Welcome to the world of trolls. The only reason they post offensive things is to get a rise out of people like you -- the fact that you've dedicated 5 entire points to bringing our attention to that filth means they should be congratulated on a job well done.

Some people aren't able to behave in a dignified manner when you give you give them anonymity. You should report it and move on to more productive Q&A.

Oh, and by the way -- the sexually explicit language displayed in the question is what makes it offensive, not the fact that it specifically targets a religious figure.

See, that's the real problem. It's not Atheists or Christians. It is the fact that people have forgotten how to NOT take everything so seriously. First of all, if there are kids on here, it is THEIR parents responsibility to censor, not us. And secondly, we DO live in a country of free speech. If something is offensive to you, you have a CHOICE!!! Choose not to listen to, read, or watch it. Maybe if you were a happier person, you wouldn't feel the need to complain about something that isn't even directed at you. Get a life and get over it!

I am Christian, and I believe those jokes are offensive and demeaning to what i believe in. Unfortunately, I think it does fall under freedom of speech. it's like the radio stations or TV stations... There are a million songs that i believe are demeaning and offensive as well as TV shows and movies... You know what i do, I ignore them. i don't listen to them on the radio and I don't watch there shows.... as far as the offensive jokes on this site. i think that you are entering a site where there are not just Christians. There are a lot of different people with a lot of different opinions and beliefs. if you feel offended then don't read them. I don't! I don't let my children come on yahoo either, i supervise what they watch, hear and see.
If you would say that about someones father you would have the right to do so... as much as they have to do so about our heavenly father, but what example would you be giving others? we, Christians are supposed to be the example of God on earth and live by what Jesus taught us...
We can't lose respect for anyone, even if we know they are not right. Pray for them!

OK sweetie. That's pornographic. It's not a joke, its not clever, its not funny . . . it's sick. This is NOT covered by freedom of speech in an open forum where people under 21 years of age are involved. This is the kind of communication that SHOULD cost someone their privileges. If you made phone calls like this, the cops could arrest you for it. This is absolutely not a constitutionally protected form of speech.

I hope you reported whoever did it. No one, but no one, should have to put up with such filth.

I said it before on you're last question and I'll say it again... he's just lookin to reaction the more you react the happier he is ... the more you show your annoyance the more fuel you put on his fire... he wants to make ya mad cuz it justifies his position. Now you can report this person and not respond to him...
By the way it is against the guidelines and I reported him about an hour ago.. but didn't get him the satisfaction of a response. Just report it and let it go... the more you let it bother you the more they will continue.

That was definitely in bad taste for a forum that has minors.

However, you could tell by the main question whether or not you wanted to even click and read the details. Obviously you wanted to.

~edit ~ ok, I apologize for saying you wanted to read it. However, by advertising it you are giving more attention to whoever posted it. Now this person knows that it is under your skin and will probably post more like it. You have now also exposed countless other to the thing that you are so against.

You need excuses to hate others . Why not simply hate? I mean, why all this pretense, and losing respect stuff? No 2 humans are alike ( ALthough religions do tend to try molding everyone in the same cast) , how can two atheists be same?

Poor porn != Atheist philosophy
