Americans rate atheists below Muslims, recent immigrants, homosexuals and other groups as "sharing their vision of American society." Americans are also least willing to let their children marry atheists. Is an unprovable supernatural being that important to people? What do you think of atheists?

Well, I don't hate atheists, but in regards to a marriage, I feel it's important to marry someone who has similar religious beliefs.

For instance, if one spouse feels that being a part of a church is important and the other one doesn't, it can create problems. It's hard to go to church by yourself, especially when churches are very family oriented. The same goes for raising children. If you believe that your religion is important, and you want to raise your children with the same values and beliefs, it can create real problems in the marriage and in how the children are raised.

For that reason, I feel that if religion is very important to one person and it's not to another, it's not a wise decision to marry. One or the other will not be happy in the process.

It's sad isn't it?

My husband has served this country for over seventeen years, and continues to do so. And yet, because he does not think there is a supernatural force behind everything we see and do, he does not have a valid "vision of American" society. Pathetic.

Funny, really. I'm an atheist and I have 2 jobs dealing with people on a daily basis. I live in the middle of the bible belt and don't hide my beliefs, or lack thereof. But then again I'm moving to Denmark where religion is a lot more tolerated and 98% of the population is atheist. Any other atheists wanna come with me? Denmark has lotsa alcohol o_o! lol

It was least trusted not most hated, but I'd be all for my kids marrying good honest people.

I think Atheists, in general, are funny, bright, kind people who know how to be moral all on their own. But then I don't go get fed a bunch of crap about them every Sunday because I'm Agnostic.

I don't know that I agree with that concept.

Atheists, like homosexuals are hated and persecuted more by Islamics (who prescribe death for them in reality) than Christians (who just give them lip service).

I think Atheists (and homosexuals) have to wake up to the reality that Orthodox Islamics are GOING TO KILL YOU, while Christains are just going to say you'll burn in the lake of fires by God's hand.

Maybe when it starts happening in Europe and America Atheists and Homosexuals will wake up and realized they are going to need the other religous (Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Shiks) to help SAVE them from the Islamic extremists.

Otherwise the Christains extremists will just stand around and do nothing and let the "other faction" literally eliminate the Atheists and Homosexuals.

It IS being done right now in Syria and Iran.

You have a clear cut choice, ALIGN or ALIENTATE.

Religion is a delusion.
The majority of people in this country claim to be religious.
Therefore, the majority of people in this country suffer from a delusion, and are an unreliable source for polls.

What about a recent immigrant, homosexual atheist? That's what I am and people are perfectly nice to me. I think that is propoganda.

I think it was the most "distrusted" minority, but yes... unprovable supernatural mumbo jumbo IS that important, apparently.

Russell's Teapot is enjoying great fame and success.

That's just sad. One of my all time favorite authors was Isaac Asimov, a devout Atheist.
