Yes, I do. To many, they are just jokes about a fictional person. It would be like making a dirty joke about Santa, or Harry Potter, or Zeus. If you don't agree, don't read it.

I guess it is called freedom of speech, but what so many people don't seem to recognize is that with liberties come responsibilities, including the right to use your freedoms wisely. It is when we abuse, neglect, trivialize and demean our freedoms that others become tempted to take them away.
I am sure you will get some cruel and childish responses to this post/question, and that is truly sad. In my practice, one of the underpinnings of our spirituality is "right speech." While we wouldn't say that anything not "right" is wrong, we would certainly say it is unskillful. Unskillful speech causes much suffering, and it is to be avoided. Many of these lewd and mean posts are clearly the work of juveniles -- either juvenile individuals or individuals with juvenile minds. I don't know about you, but I think I was able to master the concept of "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" when I was about three years old. So it makes me sad when I see this kind of thing . . . not because I've been exposed to it, but because it is a clear barometer of how much unhappiness, unskillfulness and suffering there is in the world.
What is most interesting is that people behave in this manner, which is clearly anti-social, and yet they profess to be upset and outraged when their ugliness is deleted or removed.
Sorry you've had to endure this. Hang in there. There are still lots of really good, tolerant, loving and compassionate people here on R&S.
Peace.

I agree. I have no spiritual leanings and I think all religions are a fairytale for people afraid of death. An after life of some description is a lot more palatable than nothing. You will be in the same place after death as you were before you were born, non existent. But people find comfort in believing they will meet again with those that went before us. I really wish I could believe but I have seen and heard nothing that convinces me. Your deity is yours I respect that I wont insult it, but I have explored and tried to find faith in the past and have been conjoled by some pretty good god salesmen who just couldnt convince me past just having faith and desperately hoping. I thought if you were born again you automatically got 3 wishes as part of a package.
Well I didnt once but if your any sort of militant hiding behind a diety like a pathetic loser then yes.

Sure! That's the funniest kind of dirty joke!
Seriously, though. If Christians are going to continue trying to force feed their ridiculous superstitions to everyone else, they can't get their panties in a wad over the backlash.

Although I think its in bad taste, that person has a constitutionally protected right to express those thoughts and opinions. Just as you have the right to express your disgust with him.
True -- something that is explicitly sexual in nature has no place on a public forum, but the nature of this question makes it seem that you are questioning a person's right to make a dirty sex joke about Jesus simply because he's important to you.

I agree with A Dane's Sweetheart. Sure it's wrong, but this IS the 'religion& spirituality' section, not the 'never ever make fun of God because I'm Christian and some of you aren't' section. So if you see any of those questions, just ignore them. Thanks.

Free speech and freedom of religion. You have the right to worship whatever being you want. And I have the right to make fun of whichever imaginary creature you choose.
Move to Saudi Arabia, they've solved that whole "making-fun-of-a-deity" thing. I can't remember if the solution was stoning or cutting off hands, though.

sure - jokes are fine, no matter the subject matter.
If it is not funny -then don't laugh & don't respond. If you restrict jokes, then you will slowly become as insane as some of the "Muslims" who want to KILL, yes actually KILL, people for a joke against their religiion. (note: I don't think all muslims are like this)
Lighten up. I'm buddhist & I think pot-bellied buddhist jokes can be funny.

Straw man.
No I don't thinks its perfectly ok, however I believe that the US's Constitution protects their right to say it, just as it protects your right not to read it.
