and how will you pay vet bills (like emergencies & such) if you can't afford the dog in the first place???!!!!!???
If you are dedicated to paying the vet bills.. then I would suggest a trip to vet offices in your area & let them know your interest.

I would think that a rescue is the way to go but do your sums first. It really can be quite expensive to own a dog and to take good care of it. For example;- If you go a rescue centre and you find a dog that you absolutely love and want. The rescue centre sends someone round to inspect your home and says that the fencing if not good enough. Are you going to pay out to have the fencing replaced?. All this must be taken into consideration.
What I am trying avoid is having the pain of a following question from you like we have had recently. "How can I treat my dog's broken leg because I haven't the money to take it to the Vets!"
I wish you well but please use some common sense in this matter. We can't always have what we want when we want it

A dog rescue center is probably your best bet although at those places they may not nessecerily have those two breeds. Also rescue dogs probably wont be little puppies and will need a lot of care and alot of your time.
If you know anybody that breeds and would give let you have one alot cheaper than they would normally charge or if you hear of anyone who has a dog they feel they can't look after anymore that could be a good option
Not all breeders are expensive but anyone that sells a puppy for less than a few hundred isnt someone i'd put my trust in. Try www.epupz.com for breeders in your area.
You might also want to consider a different breed as smaller dogs tend to be alot cheaper with regaurds to buying food ect than bigger dogs but different breeds are prone to different illnesses so you might want to check those out too
Also you need to make sure that you can pay the vet bills, the food etc because its not just buying the dog that costs money
Just make sure you dont buy any from puppy farms where they often breed lots of dogs at once, sell them for quite low prices and treat them appalingly x

Yeah, go to your local Animal Shelter and look it over. Most of them always have some Beagles and Lab mixes. Go see. Pick out a couple you think you might like. Then take them for a walk by yourselves so ya can see how the dog will react with you. Make sure to get all the background info you can. Some are already neutered or spayed or will have a discount plan for you.

Call area dog shelters and municipal pounds and ask if they have any, Beagles and Labs are almost always found in either places. I use to work for my local pound, we always had at least one or the other all of the time.
You can also look in the want ad section under each breed and at the bottom of the list and find free to good home ads.

if you want a dog then go to your nearest animal shelter. You may really want a Lab or Beagle but go with an open mind and a dog might just catch your eye. It could be any breed!
Good Luck!

There is really no cheap way. So yea you might be saving a few dollars when you buy or adopt the dog depending on the price of the dog. But in the end it is still the same bacuse you have to buy toys food and many more thing to keep your bet happy and healthy.

Go to your local animal shelter. they more than likely have dozens of dogs up for adoption. There is a fee payable but it will be a lot less than if you purchased a new puppy from a breeder.
They are usually speyed or neutered, vaccinated & have had a full health check before they are considered ready.
I know several people that have got their Dogs & Cats this way & all are delighted with them.

A rescue dog would be the cheapest way of doing it. Or looking in the newspaper for a none show dog, they tend to be cheaper too.
