WRONG!
The disciples are the founders...
The "school of Christianity" wasn't formed by the master, it was formed by the students.
To carry out the school metaphor...
It's sort of like confusing "the student union" or "the student senate" with "the school district."

You are right, Christ was the one who set the foundation for true Christianity. But, as with most things, people will take what was said and use it in a way they understand. This is where the difference in opinion comes in. One person can hear something and interpret it different then someone else. Or the understanding of what was said is different. It doesn't mean that the other person is wrong, just that what they heard or understood is different then someone else.
This is how each branch of Christianity, or any other religion can to be. People took what they knew and understood and gathered with people who thought the same, or who liked what they said. It's been this way since man was first on the earth.

Jesus was Jewish, and lived in the mid-east. His followers started the Catholic religion. Later Martin Luther, thought that the Catholic church was wrong, and corrupt, and his followers started the Lutheran religion. After that, various people founded further denominations of Christianity, such as: Baptist, Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, etc. Then it went further--Mormon, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Scientists, etc. Now there are churches which simply label themselves as "Christian," and there are many non-denominational Christian churches--some of which started as store-front churches.
Yes, the followers of Jesus founded Christianity, but different people see things in different lights.

Lydia, that seems to be the nature of religion throughout history. You know there's a small group of people that believe in an "existential" Jesus. He wouldn't be divine or any of that. Just brilliant. He didn't believe in "religion", either.
Depending on how you interpret things Jesus talked about the different denominations and sects and fragmentation's: He referred to new wine in an old wine bottle. He talked about sewing a fresh patch on an old garment. He talked about salting old salt that had lost it's saltiness. To me, these all allude to people trying to modify existing religions and beliefs. If I'm right, Jesus sort of explained, it just don't work?

Don't blame Jesus Christ prayed "that all may be one." The egotism, sins, misinfornation, ambitions, greed, ignorance and indifference of Christian leaders made the 30,000+ denominations possible not Jesus. If Jesus is the founder then there should be only one Church.

Religion is a man's creation, not God's creation. It is in our nature to seek after power. The founders of all those churches are after only after power, nothing else.

NO, Jesus did not try to found an organized religion, he tought that everyone can deal directly with God. People who came after him got into this organized religion power trip, and Jesus' teachings often get lost in the power scuffles.

Right, I think some is the result of being a little uncomfortable with the teachings, so they break off and form another, calling it a different name, and running it the way they want. That's what I've been told.

The truth is percieved through many different eyes.
Wealthy, traditionalist,educated folks,
ignorant folks, homosexusals,etc...
Thus a group of similar thinkers is formed.
