Very strange thing... I woke up yesterday morning with my neck and back (top left side) and even a little of my shoulder, stiff and uncomfortable. I thought maybe I slept wrong. I tried stretching gently and just rotating my head in circles. It seemed alright for most of the day yesterday, but it did start to get worse last night. Then, I woke up at 5:30 this morning with more pain. I have been taking Advil every 4.5 hours, and it seems to be helping quite well. I am concerned thought, because I have never felt this way. Not only do I have pain in my neck and shoulder, but also the top part (above my chest on the left side, under my neck) and ever sometimes when I swallow. I am not sure what this is. I don't believe it is a herniated disk or anything like that - there is no burning, tingling, numbness, or shooting pains. Just stiffness and dull pain, but I am confused with the tenderness when I swallow and the discomfort above my chest. I have NO insurance currently. Please help.

Be careful, if it is a pinched nerve or vertebrae stretching can make it worse. It could also be your lungs. Are you a smoker and smoked more than you usually do or hung out in a smokey place? You may be getting sick that will make your body ache exspecially a cold or something having to do with your lungs.

Try this for immediate temporary relief.

You can either cut down a towel or use a hand or dish towel. sew the three sides like your making a pillow, put inside long grain rice as a filler. Only enough to fill 1/4 to1/3 (or more if you'd like) of the inside. Finish sewing up. Now you can either place in the freezer for 20-30 min + or stick it in the microwave for seconds to minutes until the temp you want. The rice bag will hold the temp for quite a while and will mold around your body. Great for any pain or discomfort and will last forever as long as you don't get it wet. Good Luck!!!

Well it certainly sounds like its skeletomuscular pain. My bet would be that u have pulled some muscles in ur neck which is causing u to tense up other muscles to compensate which causes those other muslces in ur chest etc to ache. u may have a slipped disc etc in ur neck which could also be causing refered pain. Or it could even be some sort of viral infection.
Give it a day or two & then if u still have it go see a doc. If u start to develop a rash go to the hospital immediately!!
