Run! Jog....that's the best thing right away. You'll need to perform a timed 1 1/2 mile, sit-up, and push-up test every six months, and almost every other day in boot camp.
I've been active duty since 1994.

Walking and running would be the BEST thing to do... to build your endurance and stamina. Also, just the exercises done for the PRT (Physical Readiness Test): Sit-ups, Push-ups, and Pull-ups !!
I left the Navy in 1999... so I think the ladies don't do pull-ups, but always good to try !!
GOOD LUCK and Welcome Aboard Shipmate !!

Stand on your feet A LOT. Max out in AB crunches, leg lifts (lay on one side, lift bottom leg) and on your back with one pound cans in your hands. Otherwise, it's a gift when you graduate and feel lighter than air! Find shoes that help you feel your leg muscles when walking. Fly Navy!

Practice ducking under stuff while runnig through tires. You will spend too much time hitting your head on pipes and bulkhead doors otherwise.
