I think most of us would have more compassion than this deity that's paraded around as Love.

Do you really want a sober logical biblical answer to your question or is your real purpose to mock God? I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that in your heart you genuinely want God to shed light on this seeming injustice.

First of all you are trivializing the position of someone who hates God. We are not talking about a kid merely rejecting Him this kid plans a life long rebellion against Him. Also the kid is killing the rest of his siblings. Finally the kid neither loves his father or even wants anything to do with him and if he had his way he would kill his father.

Don't think for a minute that you understand the true posture of someones heart/mind only God really knows who's hate is acute and who's hate is chronic.
In the book of Isaiah,Eziekiel and Job God uses a metaphor to describe the creation of a good and perfect angel name Lucifer. Lucifer was more stunning and wise than any of the other angels created. God even appointed him to be his personal ambasador to the other angels.
Lucifer's position was one step away from his creator. That was still not enough Lucifer wanted to RULE over God!

Since God can and does read hearts/minds God recorded the first time Lucifer turned evil. Lucifer said in his heart "I will exalt my throne above the stars(angels) of God...I will ascend above the heights of the clouds(God's glory)I will be like THE MOST HIGH!"

Lucifer had everything. He practially ran heaven he had admiration from all the other angels even after his fall when he confronted Michael the archangel, Michael showed Satan a certan amount of respect.(See Jude9)

To sum up the bible says don't assume you are wiser than God and don't assume you see all the aspects of life that God can see. And if God has issued a clear warning to everyone about the consequenses of rebellion why not simply heed it and be blessed. Isn't that more logical?

The Lord is eager to accept you as his child and give you heaven as your playground. Who will you stand with Satan or Jesus?

Man, it is too early in the afternoon to start the R&S drinking game. Couldn't you have waited to post the 87th repetition of this same tired, sad old question this week until later in the day?

Nevertheless, the question *has* once again been dragged out from whatever rock it hides under when it's not being paraded as someone's idea of wit and wisdom. So, here's mud in yer eye, R&S regulars. . .cheers!

Not if she had a good reason. I hope I never give her one. I think I would be bitter, even if it was a good reason, but I wouldn't wish anything bad to happen to her.

And since humanity was supposed to be made in certain deity's image, does that mean that's the way that deity really feels? Hmmm...

If my kid CHOSE to go to a place such as hell...even if I gave him multiple opportunities to come home...then ultimately it would be his choice.

God does not send you to hell because of a lack of compassion. He has shown the most perfect compassion in that he died a horrible death to save us. People continue to reject him and choose eternal damnation. That is our free will.

If God is standing at the gates of heaven telling you to come in and you turn your back and head to hell...you have that option. You can enter heaven...but you have to choose to do that to. You choose heaven through choosing Jesus Christ and accepting his death and resurrection as your salvation.

It always drives me nuts that people try to put human compassion as being on par with or better then that of God's. God is perfect mercy and compassion...but he is not indian giver. He gave you your free will and he will not take it away from you...no matter how much you hurt him.

Not unless he was beyond redemption and threatened to make life miserable for everyone else.

Then, he would have to be kept totally separate from the others, for the good of all.

And if there were a lot more like him, they could all live together, in the same place.

Sound like hell?

1) You shall have no other gods
2) you shall not bow down to any graven image. "I am a jealous God".
3) You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
4) Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
5) Honor your father and mother

God goes beyond parents.

God has compassion--in your anthropomorphic style--if your child spurned every motion you took--eventually you would let you child have his way--you would still love him--he must take account of his own life and pay the consequences. God is love.

If my child rejected me, rather than punish them I would punish my self for being a failure as a parent.

You have been misinformed. There is no such thing as eternal torment. How can you, being created in God's image, believe yourself to be more compassionate than He? Its like saying a robot has more intelligence than the programmer or designer that built him.

If your child had a lifetime of disobedience and never told you that they were sorry for how they treated you...you probably wouldn't have anything to do with them either.
