I have a 9 month old, and I want another child (always wanted 2 kids) and I'm ready whenever... what is the best range of years in age difference between kids?

Learned a long time ago that for your body, at least 2 years between ages (not pregnancies) is best. As more mentally, that all depends on you. I spaced my first two out because of that information, and at first it was very strenuous. So I decided that I want to give it an extra year between my second and third since I see how my three year old acts. But 2-3 years is a good number as the children are still relatively close, but not too close and definitely not far in age.

My husband and I aimed for 18 months between our children, and they should be right at that or at 18 1/2 months apart. We wanted them close because both of us were about 2 1/2 years apart from our older siblings, and we felt it was too far, and that we might (or might not) have been closer to them if we had been closer in age. We also thought that, while not as financially easy, having two kids in diapers and in need of all the "baby stuff" would be better than stretching it out and having it take longer. There is also a chance that our daughter will not be as jealous of our son-to-be (due in August) since she really won't be old enough to know she's "our only one". Yet another reason we wanted them close was that I am lucky enough to stay home with our kids, but when they get to school, I will return to work, so having the kids close in age will shorten the time that we aren't making as much money- we put on hold buying a home so that I could stay home, but once I return, we'll purhase a house. I might eat my words later, but for our family, closer in age is better. Good luck~

It's going to depend on the personalities of your children, how you handle multitasking, and a bunch of other factors.

My age gap that I like is 12 months. The closest I have is 12 months 4 days apart, then I have a 5 year gap(I was done having kids) and when I learned I was having more, well I went for the 12 month gap again, I have 18 months as the farthest between the 4 girls.

my brother and me are 15 and 13, and i've always thought that was a good age difference since we were both able to play together or watch a show and understand. But my friend's parents' have 9 kids! the oldest is 15 and the youngest is 3.
just best to have a kid when you're ready

A good age difference would be 3 years.

2 - 3 years. My brother and I are 3 years apart. We're close enough in age and at the same time far enough apart to do things together...or separate.

Maybe consider when they are older...driving, college, drinking age...3 years gives you a little bit of time in between major milestones. Not too much but just enough...

It worked out well with my family.

You're overanalyzing. My mom squirted out a kid every year. That was back in the day when everybody had a big family and you spanked your kids' rears when they got stupid and taught them manners and respect. That was back in the day before the lawyers, psychologists, and activists screwed up the world. Kids could play outside in their own yards back then. It was a better world. Just have kids and don't worry about doing everything so perfect and according to plan. Life's too short.

I can only speak from experience - mine are 2 yrs 3 mos apart and so far it's wonderful. My thought is any closer and it would be too hard (at least at first), and any farther apart and maybe they wouldn't be as close... but again, I can only speak to what I know.
