I have peripheral neuropathy, the cause is unknown but I believe it has to do with previous back sergeries, anyways last year after having the flu my symptoms became full blown (weakness, sharp pains, tingling, numbness, yada yada yada) about four months ago the symptoms cleared up I started jogging again and feeling great, my kids came home with the flu last week and I felt asthough I was coming down with it too, but instead I ended up with all the full blown neuropathy symtoms. is this common?

The two don't interweave. Though both are diseases, one is neurological ( having to do with nerves), while the other is viral. What happened: Your system reacted when all of the various flu symptoms hit it. You felt your neuropathy stronger. Don't be afraid that, just because you get the flu, your neuropathy symptoms will worsen. PLEASE LISTEN TO ME: Although you may feel the symptoms stronger when you have something like the flu, the symptoms of your neuropathy DIDN'T WORSEN because you got the streptoccoci ( the "bug" that causes the flu) in your system. You only FELT them more. Don't panic if the kids get the flu. As I said, the two DONOT intertweave.

I have sort sort of neuropathy in my hands and feet for reasons I don't know. All blood tests came back normal for common causes. I had a really, really bad cold in April and a week after my cold finished I noticed that my hands and feet were a lot more numb and the right side of my face started getting numb and tingling. Before my cold, I had only burning pain for years and no loss of feeling. Now my ribcage and my hip is also slowing going numb. I went to a neurologist and he is running nerve tests and checking me for MS. I was tested for MS several years ago and it was normal. I think your question is a good one.
